Golf R MSRP announced!

So VWC finally released an MSRP for the new Golf R.......$39675 plus freight and PDI. Thats about $1500 less than I thought! Also we get the RNS 510 headunit where as the US gets the RNS 315. Still probably looking like April-May 2012 delivery!

Oh and APR stage 1...320HP and 321 torque!!! SHould be fun!

$39675 + $1365 (freight and pdi) + $120 (a/c and tire tax) + $295 (admin fee) plus gst! No spots left at Fifth Ave but not sure of the other stores!

which is 6k more than a gti mainly for awd and a k04, sounds reasonable. i'm still not ready to put money down though. what are you going to derek now that you know the price, i was looking at S6's you can get a 07-08 in the 30k mark from the states i know you were looking at the rs4 but a s6 is nice too.

Well I still have my order so unless an amazing deal on an RS4 comes around by spring, I'll be picking up the R! S6 is nice but auto only!

Drivetrain should be nearly identical to a TTS and that starts at $57,900.......

STI's are $38,895 and Lancer Evo's $41,998 so this seems pretty close, might be down a couple horses but this is the target market.

I would say the interior of the Golf R accounts for the difference in HP/value for the money. Will be curious on what these dyno stock too as 256hp seems like a strange number to have settled on, TTS is 265, perhaps undercutting on paper only....

Not only that but there are only 500 coming to canada. I like a bit of exclusivity in my cars. I guess my age has a little something to do with the car I would chose. I think the R is understated and classy compared to the STI and Evo. Granted, its not as fast however in day to day driving, it should be plenty fast. And again its a reflash away from 320 HP!

If i was in the market for an A3 I'd probably get the golf R instead...that said, 40k for a awd GTI seems steep.

edit: "a reflash away" from decent numbers isn't really a great argument in my eyes. Lots of the cars (EVO/STI) are a couple minor mods away from putting up "new turbo" numbers in the golf Arrrrrr..Not to mention they're cheaper to mod by a long shot
