    Re: Lube-X Screwed Up?

Seems like a perfect time to upgrade to a hybrid pan if you ask me

But honestly my brother worked at MR.Lube last year and i have told my story already on this forums. Definitely don't use anything like that because they simply don't care.

Personally, the only quick oil change place I trust is Lube City in Cochrane, the manager Brian is a stand up guy, and an enthusiast, the guys under the cars are all certified BMW techs/honda techs (in the Philippines but whatever, your trained your trained).

Some of you may have seen my post looking for an oilpan for a ford escape, that was my mom's oilpan getting stripped out, they didnt tell us, it just started dripping after the change (she parks over a piece of carpet in the garage so we didnt notice). Took it down to Mr. Lube in cochrane. BEFORE THEY EVEN DROPPED THE OIL....... they came up and said hey, this is stripped and leaking, come look, went down, sure enough it was, told me the options and we got it temporarily fixed.

Yes, I've gone there for at least 6-7 changes before. I have all of the receipts still. The best part is that they put a tamper seal on it, and clearly it was still there upon the **** up visit. I'm just going to call tomorrow afternoon and say I've talked to VW and they say they know nothing of a problem with oil pans, and that chances are the pan is stripped and will need replacing. See what they say to that. If they resist or don't want to cover it should I take it to George?

If they resist just take your case to the BBB or at the least but it on record with them. It doesn`t do much but then at least it is documented.

i work at a lube-x, and you would be surprised at what we have seen. our shop actually uses tq wrenches and have tq specs on every vehicle that comes in as we have an insane amount of bmw/porsches/vw/mercs come in.

just this week, a vw comes in and the drain plug was free spinning and could not loosen or take out. Every quick oil change place(lube-x, mr lube and lube city) has had issues with shops over tightening the plugs. I have also seen dealerships do this too.

best bet is just do it yourself next time.

              Re: Lube-X Screwed Up?

Yeah, just got off the phone with the manager. He was a complete douche about the whole deal. Said that it's a wear and tear item and they're not covered to foot the bill. I told him I'd talked to vw and they said there's only an issue if the mechanic did over torque the bolt. He said that they've done 28k oil changes and only a few have stripped, mainly vw's. So I said I'll take it too VW and take pics and document and call the BBB, he said "you do that" then hung up.

How is and oil pan a "wear and tear" item? It's expensive and a main part of the engine. What the ****...

It's in Olds unfortunately. if everyone were willing to come up that would be pretty funny, but it's kind of out of the way.

hmm sounds like a douche owner/manager.

maybe try contacting corporate. if customers have a problem with other shops we just tell them to call them.

Yes all us VW owners can come with our leaky oil pans and leave oil all over the lot!

Or everyone do their own oil changes and bring some used oil for their parking lot in the middle of winter? :P

All good suggestions guys. I'm going to call corporate tomorrow and see why they say. I don't think they have much to do with this kind of stuff but maybe they can throw some persuasion the owners way.
