Painting Calipers

My calipers are just starting to form a tad bit of rust on it and I plan to clear it off meanwhile getting my calipers painted. Even though this is my plan I'm not sure whether I should or shouldn't do this. May I get some opinions?

Get some caliper paint and have at it! I found the brush on stuff was the easiest, but i havent used the spray stuff, brush on is nice cause you dont have to mask up a whole lot.

I would suggest painting them with a brush. I have tried the spray painting approach but actually painting them with a paint brush was alot easier and you get a better result. just make sure you scrub them clean and tape off the edges so it doesn't run onto your break.

Any suggestions on the paint brand? Still curious on whether brushing/spraying gives a better finish at the end taking into account that the calipers have been cleaned thoroughly. Also to anyone who has done their calipers, how many coats have you applied? I don't exactly mind a tedious job, as long as it's worth my time in the results.

I just used the Canadian tire stuff in black, it held up better than the oem stuff on the gli......

Just followed the instructions in the box.

Mask off area.
Put wire brush onto drill -> Remove gunk + Any Rust
Wipe clean with rag
Spray with red cheap paint from Canadian Tire.
Refresh annually/every 2 years when changing wheels

Win.

I used a small foam brush and taped off around. I did 2 full coats on mine. I think the biggest thing is to get it completely clean before you paint. Mine were so dirty and greased that I tried 3 different cleaners and nothing worked. Patryk helped me out with the idea of lightly sanding the crap off of them instead of spending a week trying to clean them. It worked great!!!

I purchased my paint from this place that was recommened to me(Smith Mcleay Coatings) and it came in 2 parts that you had to mix but seemed to work great. Mine still look shiney and new today and I drive my car everyday. They were great to work with and had thousands of colors to pick from.

Pro tip, you can use a shower cap, the plastic kind with the stretchy band, (depending on how huge your rotors are) so that you have less tape to put on.
