Looking to buy a DSLR of some sort. In no way am I a professional, and in no way will I need some crazy camera that does everything. But I'm looking to take some better photos. Mostly family action, some car, some wildlife/nature. Basically price depending and brand suggestions are what I'm looking for. I know a lot are going to say personal preference.

Go to The Camera Store and get a feel for all the different models that are in your price range.

Re: Camera Suggestions. Need Help From the PRO's
I am a Canon guy. I keep trying to find a reason to get something better than my aging Rebel XT but it never fails me and 8 MP is still really quite good. I have 3 lenses 28-90mm, 90-300mm, and a Lens Baby plus a cheap 2x tele-converter for fun. The one thing I do like about the new DSLR's is the ability to shoot video.

Re: Camera Suggestions. Need Help From the PRO's
Been looking for a new camera for my wife, I think that the D3100 is best bang for buck, but I would love the added iso sensitivity of the d7000.
Nikon usa lists the d3100 at $699
d90 at $899
d7000 at $1199
I understand the d7000 is intended to replace the d90, but they plan on keeping the d90 in the market for another 6-9 monthsLast edited by Mantis; 09-05-2011, 09:43 PM.I may appear to be nice, but don't be fooled, I probably don't like you

Re: Camera Suggestions. Need Help From the PRO's
personally i'd go buy a used d90 body.
the real money in photography is in the glass, the bodies are disposable.
you can find a used d90 kit for like $500 including starter glasTeam Highschool
