  • E30 Wagon, Yay or Nay?

I'm leaving for europe on wednesday and had a Porsche Carrera 3.2 ligned up to buy while there but it fell through.

After an extensive search for another one, it seems that theyre all WAY cheaper to buy here in Canada.

Now my options are to rent a car for the 2 1/2 months I'm there or buy something to bring back.

I found an awesome E30 wagon for sale. First thing is are the 2L motors reliable in them? I'll be doing a 6000km trip in it.

Theres a few others but the red ones the one I'm leaning towards.

    need another poll answer.

I don't have enough knowledge on the vehicle.

It looks really good though and in the long run may be cheaper. wish I had some advice on the engine for yea.
Yes... it is a Front Wheel Drive... your point?

Dooooo it. I used to own an e30. 87 iS. Loved it, the engines are reliable if the proper maintenance has been performed. Timing belt/oil changes the usual. Big problem as in most BMW's especially older in the power steering, leaky, hard pipes cracking. I had h&r race springs and bilstein sports in it. Thing handled on rails. Always wanted to find an iX wagon as they're rareish.

Edit: just looked at the classified links. Drool at the second one, black with the spokes. That thing will MOVE. it's got the m50 swap from an e36. Easy enough later to drop an s52 into if you wanted. 250-300hp e30 anyone??

Those of you who voted another car, what do you suggest?

I voted another car and I say anything. Wagons are nice, but IMO E30 wagons are NOT. the sedans and coupes are much nicer. Plus, there are ALOT of much nicer european cars that are 15+ years old that you can import if you want. But if you (or anyone else) really have your heart set on a wagon, here's a local one

That local one is nice. I tried to buy it two months ago, but he kept taking the ad down and kept changing his mind about selling it. I really want that wagon.

^ Been looking. Theyre aanywhere from 15000 euro to 25000 euro. Way too expensive.

Theres a couple for around 12, but they have a TON of km on them
