I love V70R's but they are despised on this forum with the exception of a select few. If I remember correctly KOR isn't a fan either.

Since we're talking about Volvo's though we really miss our V50 T5 AWD. I would say it was easily as quick as a mk5 GTI. V50's however there are few that are T5, fewer that are T5 and manual, and T5 manual AWD is a unicorn.

its hard to find newer wagons without flappy paddles. its just the nature of them, they arent built as purpose built sports cars and as such have a slightly more luxury finish to them.

*not mine, but identical minus the wheels.

My 2008 is a 6 speed, and has the same engine as the GTI, 200hp, better with software.

2008+ is reliable, certainly more than an Allroad. You should be able to find a 2008-2010 2.0T manual with low km's an remaining warantee and or CPO warantee.

V70R's are awesome but not low maintenance.

As some of you found out, can't get a manual transmission in an A4 B8. Can't get a manual Caddy wagon.

Can't find (m)any A4 Avant B7 Manuals even online :/ Probably not going to find one of those? If they ever existed?

Is there such a beast as a manual passat wagon??

Not a fan of the BMW... I like Volvo but not so much their wagon.

                      A3 is an option.

I think a 4 door MK6 GTI is just as roomy as an A3, just saying...

kris depending on the space go check them out

a3 is going to be F'in SMALL vs the passat wagon

a4 avant is small in the back seat. .the hatch is OK size..

passat is bigger than the a4 avant

its hard as F to find manuals in a lot of these cars.. i looked when we bought the allroad (somehow graeme got super lucky)

but for a4s,passats probably 99% are tiptronic and the 1% sell out way too fast

Yup, got one in my driveway. They do come up from time to time. 5th ave had one recently. If you find one you should get a good deal as they are generally not what people in they wagon segment are looking for.

Have you looked at any subaru's?

Personally, I liked the forester back when they sat a little lower and had a boxy look.

The newer ones look more SUV'ish, but not bad.
