Registering a vehicle for project?

How do I register a car so it's in my name but not have insurance on it? I just bought a cabby that I plan on restoring a bit. I don't need insurance on it because it won't even be in driving condition for a few years. Just need attach my name to the vin I guess. thanks.

i put fire/theft on my s4 in the winter when i park it

Yeah, my bus has fire and theft on it when sleeping for winter.

You would have to put driving insurance on it to register it then change it to parking after. You can't register a vehicle with only parking cause you're not supposed to be driving it.

? That isn't true? I just insured mine for parking and went and got plates for it. I drove there in my actual car. Either or, it takes a phone call to make the switch.

I don't know maybe it depends on the company then. I work for AMA and that's the way it is here ateast.

Thanks, that's what I was wondering. I've only registered one other vehicle in Alberta before. As I'm from the land of nazi regime insurance and everything is done at once.
