Are there any other ISP choices locally, other than Shaw and Telus? I'm thinking a change may be in order, but I don't know my choices. I know alot of you are techies and maybe someone here knows something I don't.

Re: ISP choices
Yeah I was gonna say shaw. Ur screwed if u care about performance because nothing competes with shaw broadband100 or 50. If ur simply trying to fight the man and just don't want to support telus/shaw then there are local dsl options. But! They go through shaw or telus

Re: ISP choices
Telus can change all they want. They can't compete with the frequency range of broadband. Dsl was great as a highspeed alternative to dial up. But now it's costing too much for the hardware to increase your speed. You may not see the costs in your monthly bill now, but you will when data transfer is billed.

Re: ISP choices
I'm using Telus right now with optic cable and the connection is much faster than what I had with Shaw and it's less money a month. Plus I got an X-Box in the deal.--

Re: ISP choices
It's looking like I will be sticking with Shaw. I was looking around because they continued billing me at an inflated rate even though their pricing has changed months ago. Telus doesn't offer high speed optik in my neighbourhood.GT3071R and more...

Re: ISP choices
I spent 3 hours over 2 days on hold with shaw to get them to fix my cable. Took 10 days to get a tech over, 5 minutes to fix, turned out they unhooked the wrong house when someone moved. Then 2 more hours today on hold to get a refund on the time I was without service. I asked about a discount, Telus has better TV rates for the channels I want, they said I was not eligible for any discounts on my account and they feel their services are worth what they charge. Then he suggested I package internet and phone with them to save some money. I pointed out I would have been extremely pissed off if I had no phone or internet while the cable was out.
Will be changing over to Telus TV pretty soon, they have 25 Mb Optic TV and Internet now, which will suit me fine. Looking forward to 2 more hours on hold to cancel with Shaw.Jeff
