    Re: ISP choices

Really? I've always had fast easy service with Shaw. Send them an email or phone and they pickup within minutes. I've never been on hold. Technician the next day, even on weekends.

      Re: ISP choices

I too have spent many hours on the phone with shaw. When I moved into my new house they gave me the welcome home promotion (free phone, high speed Internet, and tv) I paid extra for faster Internet. Problems on day one the installer was unable to terminate my wired ethernet cables that run through out the house and a week later we found out that he gave me the wrong cable/pvr box. So they extended the promotion a week to make up for the week lost, and said they would give us free movie and hd channels. The bill comes for shaw and I am expecting to pay $60 for the upgraded Internet instead it's over $300! So I call them and explain that I am on a special promo and that I shouldn't have to pay for anything except the added Internet. They tell me that they don't have a clue what I am talking about and that they have to transfer me to a different department where I had to explain this all over again. Eventually it gets resolved and they credit my account. The next month rolls around and I get the shaw bill expecting everything has been sorted only to find another $300+ bill. I call them and have to go through the same crap again. The same thing happens again on the third month except this month is even more? So I call them and get the same I don't have a clue about your promo have to transfer you then have to explain it all again, then I am put on hold then she comes back and is like **** is all fucked up I'll call you back when its sorted. 30 minutes later I get called back and they credit me everything except for the extra channels I am supposed to get for free because of the first screw up 3 months ago, I explain this to her and she says that I am only supposed to get those channels for free for the first 3 months I tell her that's not right, she didn't seem to bothered so I ended up canceling the extra channels. This goes on for another 3 months, every bill I was charged full price. It's totally ridiculous. That's my shaw experience in my new house lol.

Telus is killing it right now, IF they can get you the top tier. Ie, 3 HD streams + 1 SD + still have leftover for internet. With no TV on I'm at 26mbps. Got an xbox and sold it for 200, good monthly rate for now. Not as good for time shifting as Bell, but so far so good. Watch the pvr'd shows on any other TV is sweet too - not clear if the new shaw units can do it.

I agree, switched to Telus from Shaw. Cheaper and internet is very very fast constant 25 mbps download.

Well 2.5 hours more on hold to cancel with Shaw. Looking forward to trying out Telus next week.
            Shaw: "Why are you cancelling?"
Me: "Let's see, 7.5 hours on hold with you guys in the last 2 weeks and 10 days without service, will that do? I'm switching to Telus"
Shaw: "You are aware that Telus costs more for the same service."
Me: "Not for 6 months, and for what I actually use it will cost less."
Shaw: "You're wrong, they cost more for equal service."
Me: "I don't care, I'm tired of being on hold. Just close my account."
            Shaw: "Fine..."
