  • Boo Concept 1 you suck, Cheers to CAW!!!

Welcome to yet “another one of these foul threads”

So lets begin this fukshell of a story. I knew I was in need of an oil change soon, and Sean (MechEngg) was heading over to concept 1 to order some stuff. I asked him to grab me an oil filter for an 04 R32. He asked if it was the same as a regular 24v VR6 and I said I’m not sure, but just ask for an 04 R32 oil filter, and they should have it (it is their fukin job to know parts). Well today I start my oil change. I drain the oil, take the filter off, look at the new one and it’s not the fukin same!!! (Shame on me for not double checkin the parts number and anticipating the retards of concept 1 fuking up a simple task) At this point its 5:55pm and Concept 1 is closing in a few mins. I immediately phone them and get Aaron. I ask if there are any customers in the store. He questions why I’m asking this, so I tell him because they sold the wrong filter for an R32, so I’m hoping someone I know is there that can pick one up for me and I would pay them for it and probably buy some beer for their troubles. He tells me nobody is in the store. Needing the car for early tomorrow morning (concept opens at noon, I need the car at 8am) I ask Aaron where he lives hoping that he can possibly pick one up and meet me somewhere so I can finish my oil change. He immediately cuts me off and tells me that he wont do that, and neither will any other customer service rep in the store.

Well to that I say fuk you. (I didn’t actually tell him off on the phone since I didn’t have time and it was more important to solve the situation rather than waste my breathe on that idiot) This is the 3rd fukin time you ignorant sh!ts have screwed up my order and done absolutely nothing to fix the situation. You guys suck balls and have no clue how to run a business. Here’s the icing on the cake…..we still have the receipt for the oil filter. The part number on the receipt matched an R32 oil filter. The part number PRINTED CLEARLY on the filter matches a MK4 TDI oil filter. Which makes me come to the conclusion that you stupid dipsh!ts should take a long holiday, shut down your shop and return to playschool where they teach 5 year olds how to match shapes. Matching numbers on a box to numbers on a computer screen or receipt is not that fukin hard!!! Perhaps you should learn to do this before selling wrong products to people and wasting their fuking time as you did with my Friday night!

As a bit of history, this happened when I purchased suspension for my MK3. They sold me a cup kit for a 93-96 golf (my car was a 97). When I noticed this and went back, they said they cant do anything, because I cant prove that I told them it was a 97. Yes because most people are so much stupider then them, and have no clue what year their car is. Next time I order parts, I’ll just let you tell me what I drive…Then another time, I needed the little peanut style bulbs that are in the headlights of MK4’s underneath the high beam bulb. Once again, not hard to fukin figure out unless you were dropped on your head repeatedly.

So onto finding a solution. I call Calgary Auto Works. At this time its 6pm and they should be closing their doors. I explain the situation to Sam and ask for the same thing, if he can pick one up for me and either meet me, or drop it off at my house. We came to the conclusion that Sam would just add the filter to my tab at CAW, and leave it somewhere for me to pick up later in the evening. I came, picked up the filter, and was able to finish what I started so that my car is back running tomorrow morning.

So a huge thanks and appreciation to Calgary Auto Works, for helping with a problem that another store fuked up. As always, you have great customer service and are always willing to do what you can to help customers out. As for Concept 1, you are the biggest bunch of retards I’ve seen running a business. Quit your jobs and go work at a McDonalds where you belong. Screwing up orders left right and center. I will never take my business to you again, and will make sure to sh!t on your name at every opportunity (don’t worry it wont be slander, the truth speaks for itself). FYI for everyone, CAW can order and usually stocks the same products as Concept 1.

P.S. for anyone interested, the Tim Hortons beside Blackfoot Motorsports absolutely sucks at making smoothing. But at least when they see they made a mistake, they apologized, were polite and gave me a large premium iced cap (I only ordered a medium smoothie). Take notes concept!!!

Edit: This does not apply to Ken, as he is the only one who has actually provided service and known what he was talking about in the past.

I've NEVER heard a good thing about the service at C-1...at least a stand up business came through for you!

I'm only had neutral experiences there, mostly because I've only ordered or bought very specific items that couldn't be confused with anything else.

I think I have maybe ever had 1 good experience at concept 1 and this is out of probably 30 times I've been there....

Calgary Auto Works on the other hand, never a bad experience, Sam even went as far out of his way the one time to give me a ride home (I live out be Calaway Park) because I couldn't find a ride home. Any part I've needed, I've called, Sam said ok its ordered and an hour later its there....

there's offensive language in your post.

I must pose a question, though, as to why you would do business with a place with a bad reputation? Were they convenient at the time or closer to your situation or something?

I just find it odd that even after several bad experiences, you would still give them your money. I went to buy dogfood once and the store had closed up 10 minutes early, and I never go there anymore because it was a ridiculous situation. Who closes 10 minutes early?

luunta, after the first couple times of bad service, the only reason I went there is because they had in stock what I needed for the next day, and you get a discount with eurodrivers paid membership. I can safely say now, that discount is not big enough to make up for the lack of service.

I have to agree with most of this and it is a shame as I know Ken is a good guy. I guess he just doesn't have a tight enough leash on his employee's. C1 has been around for a long time and has built its reputation on aircooler parts and service. The thing is it is time to move into the new world and make sure you do not piss off everyone as it will end up biting you hard in the end.

This is totally need for speed!!! I like.

Funny thing about c1 is we keep going back. When I need something, they usually have it in stock but you do have to baby sit. Their prices are decent too. I continue to go and I have methods of avoiding their issues. For example I bring them my wheels instead of leavin the car. I find it hard to get angry at them because I know what to expect.

Last time I went, a monkey dropped my whel face down In their front parking lot while helping me load into the car. What can you even do when that happens?

The time before that was the issue Popp got involved in by trying to help me order a replacement wheel through them. Which you apparently can't order 1. You can only order 4 but they have to be the wrong size. It was an interesting conversation.

The time before that I wanted tranny flush before wuste last year. I had done the fluid a few months before so the tranny plug was tightened by me (which was hand tight, I'm not an idiot). Those hex bolt holes fill with dirt down there. If u don't clean them out and try to stick a bit in, you'll strip the plug. Sure enough they die but attempted to blame "over tightening". I didn't even bother arguing because I knew they just didn't spray in the hole before ramming their tool in. So they welded a nut on and charged me 20 bux. Oh well. I didn't complaint because I expected something like that lol

The time before that was my steering rack. Something I'd do myself but I was pretty busy so Ken gave me a good quoted price. They didnt tighten the driver side bolt. Lol I found out a few days later when the rattle got real bad. Brought it to him (even though it was seconds of time to do it myself). I just wanted to teach their monkeys a lesson so they would acknowledge their short comings. Well I come back an hour later to pick up the car and he says they couldn't find anything wrong and the test drive was successful. Lol! So I shrug, come home and tighten it myself.

They have done some good things too. For example they gave me a great deal on my wheels. And they had my rare build year control arm kit in stock. (over priced but oh well)

I guess we all know what to expect. They r convenient, the Walmart of vag.

Even though i was the guy who picked up the oil filter for pat this is my first bad experience with C1. I don't find Aaron to be really on top of the ball with water cooled stuff but Curtis usually does a good job and has even set wheels aside for me to bump me ahead of the waiting line and called me when they came in. I usually have a decent experience with them but this time i just figure they gave me the wrong filter by accident.

I have never had a good experience with them. I call them Concept 2nd-time. Because they never get anything right the 1st time. You always have to go back at least one more time. I needed a brake caliper rebuild kit for my bus. To rebuild both of my front calipers. FRONT BRAKES. TWO OF THEM, LEFT AND RIGHT. I ask for this, explain I need enough for two, tell them I have bad experiences in the past with you guys, and seeing as it is a long weekend coming up, and I planned to do the work on the weekend, I wanted to make sure I had enough parts for both.

They assured me that the kit they gave me comes with enough seals for both. Get my calipers off, pop the pistons out. Fuk you Concept. Only enough for one.

My dad bought Coils, gets home, opens the box. There are only 3 coils. Take them back, they tried to convince us, that it isn't their fault. We must have lost one. How do you lose a coil out of a seal box? They have plenty of sets of these coils in stock. But they made us, wait for the manufacturer to send us a 4th instead of just swapping out three for a box of four.

I was in that place daily, just getting little fiddly bits for my bus, and every day they would ask me "What vehicle is this for? What year? Automatic or Standard?" after probably 10 days of being there daily.

Aaron couldn't find his ass, with four hands, with two attempts.

I have stopped going there, and just order online. I hate ordering online, it really bothers me, I always like to support local, but now I hope everyone buys online and ruins that fucking **** hole.

We're lucky to have a vw specific store in calgary. Mistakes are made get over it don't trash the place online to all your buddies bitching and complaining. Your saying they should go back to playschool for making a mistake meanwhile when your acting like the child. If you have a problem get some balls and go in and talk the guy who sold the part or ken the owner. I'm sure they would try to make it right, i doubt they're out to screw ya. I've got parts for my self and customers at work even had have thing built from metal fab shops and they have screwed up, **** goes south from time to time.

Time to time is fully understandable and I definitely see where you are coming from Kane, it's great that they have tons of stuff in stock and good to go especially for older dubs.

But when there are this many customers that have had more than one bad experience each and no attempt for Concept 1 to correct.......

I've never had a problem getting the right parts from C1. Than again I do double check what I am getting.

I've had problems with most major online retailers at one time or another, so basically things go wrong, it is best when you are there in person to double check, but with online retailers you can't be. At least at a store you can.
