  • Easing the pain of brokerage rape...need advice!!!

I'm looking to order suspension from the states and am at a crossroads as to where to get it shipped. My 2 options are shipping to the house, or shipping to sweetgrass. From what I understand, brokerage with UPS is ridiculous. From your past experiences, what would you say is the cheaper/better route?

I'm thinking shipping to sweetgrass will be cheaper for fees, and also get the product across the border faster. What do you guys think?

With ECS take the canada ease or whatever it is.

I had my swaybars shipped to the border, i spent more on gas going to get it than it would have cost to have it shipped to my door.

I worked it out for him and he saves less than $45 going down to get it, minus holding fees whereever he gets it shipped to. Not worth it IMO, just order it to your door with the canada-ease

I did my own customs clearance last summer on a $10k piece of equipment I ordered from the US. The item was shipped to a bonded warehouse who called me when the item had arrived. I went to the CBSA office in Edmonton and called the warehouse to fax over the paperwork (they will not give it to you). I filled out a couple of forms and paid the GST due. The CBSA guy gave me a customs clearance document which I took to the freight company and they released the item to me. By acting as your our customs broker you save all the rip off fees. You will only have to pay the GST plus any tariff (if applicable but for me there was no tariff as my item was made in the US so NAFTA applies)

            Pat

If you are ordering suspension you have a couple of options

a-pay for 2day shipping, this covers brokerage costs
b-pay for standard shipping and suck up the brokerage fees, they are based on valued amount, so they shouldn't get to out of hand, I would guess no more than 70-80 bucks extra
I may appear to be nice, but don't be fooled, I probably don't like you

fed ex is not to bad for broker fees. i ordered 1100 dollars of stuff from jhm and broker fees were only 60 bucks. when i ordered stuff from VAST which was 500 i paid 108 in broker fees. if fed ex is not avaliable then i would use canada ease.

I ordered my coilovers from vogtlandsuspension and had no warranty issues... had them shipped to me and border fees were fine too.
