I'll be out there from July 15-Aug 4. The guy I'm riding with used up all his holidays when he got married earlier this year so I'll be looking for other people to ride with too. I expect we'll be doing the shore a fair bit, and a few evening rides. Whistler will have to be on the weekend but if you're out there mid week I can make plans to meet you.

            Re: Weekly mountain bike rides

i just got back from whistler.

EPIC is the only word i can use to describe it. Boneyard is huge but tons of fun. Bikercross is the best i've ever seen it. No need for brakes, and using them messes you up anyway.

Dirt Merchant and Freight Train are still pretty mucky, especially high up on freight train lots of snow. Got close to 50 laps in in 3 days of riding. Forks need a rebuild, destroyed my front Saint brake lever, and my body aches all over

want to do some runs at moose this weekend? I'd like to make sure my 'big bike' is in great shape before I head out west on my trip. I did a full rebuild but it usually needs some rides and fine tweaking after a rebuild before everything's perfect. I think the chain tensioner needs a little tweak and discs need to be bedded in again, have a little rubbing. I'm thinking we can either ride up pneuma and down tdub or race of spades, or if you know anyone with a truck we could get a few shuttle runs in. I'll double check with my wife which day this weekend works best for her.

It's funny how tired you can get just 'coasting' and not having to pedal huh? Even with a big bike the body takes a beating at whistler. Out of curiosity, do you clear all the doubles and gaps on A-line? That's my goal on my trip, made it through all but the last two sets of doubles before the boneyard and came up about 2ft short on the transition and bailed hard last year.

I'm pretty good with a wrench, and did a full rebuild, repacked bearings, etc. It's the first time I've used a chainguide so I'm not sure if it's just the brand but it makes a funny noise as the side links of the chain rub on the roller. The discs are good I think, just need to re-bed the pads as I adjusted the calipers and gave them a fresh bleed. A little and I'll tweak the front rotor tonight as it's not quite true. I'll be in touch re: the weekend, pretty sure I can ride one if not both days for a few hours. I haven't been on t-dub or race of spades yet this year, and want to try out my new helmet cam

Anyone free to ride in K country or Moose Mountain on Saturday? I'd prefer to get an early start before it gets too hot. If we get enough people we might be able to organize a shuttle.

It looks like your bike is 6" in long travel mode. You should be fine on anything in K-Country as well as the blue runs on Moose Mountain. Once your skills are up for it you can probably ride most of the stuff on Moose with that bike as well.
