  • Needed: Custom fiberglass work...

Not too sure where to post this, but this should get some views. Anybody know where I can get some custom fiberglass molding done at a reasonably low price? Names, Locations, Phone numbers, anything will help. PM me if this is something you are skilled at and want to make a little cash on the side. Thanks in advance guys n gals

Edit: If anyone has good experience with this and is willing to help out, I will pay in beer and food!!!

Let me know which days you boys are available to swing by. I've already scraped attempt 1, and attempt 2 looks better, but still not up to my own standards. I need some help and some pointers ASAP!!!

I'm building a spare wheel sub enclosure, except its a little more complicated than normal. My spare wheel well has a hump in the middle which is really tough to mold around without getting air bubbles. This is what the R32 trunks look like for reference: Sorry for the huge pic

Also, I am only using the back half of the spare wheel, not the full circle.

What resin and mat are you using? I recommend a good quality resin and Knytex. I buy mine from Industrial Paint and Plastic. Pick up a roller as well to get the bubbles out.

I was just going to say to use a roller

Purchased all my supplies at Industrial Paint and Plastic. bought a roller from them too, but as soon as I tried to use it, it was just pulling off all the fibers from the fiberglass material. The biggest problem i'm having is the fact that when I lay my original sheet of fabric, I cant really stretch it because its not going around anything, instead it is inside the well. All I can really do is lay it there and try to flatten it out as much as possible. Then when I try to roll it, it moves the first layer of fabric out of place. Does anyone have a better idea of laying down the first sheet?

If you don't mind making a mess you can tear the fiberglass mat into pieces just big enough to fit into a paint roller tray, saturate the mat in there, roll out the excess then place the pieces where you want them. Make sure to mask off everything, and maybe wear some tyvek coveralls and gloves for sure.
