There's a difference between "wait, something better might come around" and "wait, the current one has a crap resolution screen". 1024x768 is basically OK for a 5 inch screen...
Apple themselves will tell you about their "retina" display. They looked at 800x480 on a 3.6" screen and said "No way." So why would I say yes to 1024x768 on a tablet?
Yeah I have looked at the asus one at best buy. Its cool, but its essentailly a tablet laptop, which to be defeats the purppose of a tablet.
A lot of these new ones coming to market are up around 10hrs of HD playback (or so they claim). Ive got to imagine the asus one running a full O/S with a proper chipset etc... in it is gonna draw a lot moar powers
My intent is to bring it around to meetings, take some minor notes, pull up my project plans (ms project viewer & visio viewer apps are available today for android), dump sh*t to drop box or google doc's etc. Home use would be internet surfing, checking mail (we're using good server here so I can sync up with exchange securely, pretty slick). If i needed full suite of software available to me everywhere I went, Id also probably want a legit keyboard.
Also, Im not sure where the comment about the iPad being twice as fast as other tabs available came from, but that goes against everything I've been reading

played with a RIM playbook tonight at a walmart! didnt' realize they sell them
anyways.. very cool OS on it.. but the thing is wayyy to small IMO.. its way too tiny.. its like 7" i think or something.. anyways.. sort of impressed by my apple nutswing still makes me a fan of ipads
i still don't know why any of these tablets run crap OS'. the only ppl that buy them are the ones that take the effort to fight against windows. windows isn't great, but it _is_ the standard. oh you wanna challenge that? haha try it. so every program ever used by anyone started and runs in windows. accept it, it's fact. all these **** OS' do is copy (barely) the original application.
so u got ppl going out of their way to get a tablet that runs some crap OS with NO quality control of the market place. and NO support. and most of all, it's _ALWAYS_ in beta .. like android. all open source is _always_ in beta . even when it's a real RELEASE it still has open published bugs and incomplete functionality AND it was written by 25 fat hippies wearing socks and sandles who beleive ALL sourcecode should be open.
i love the open source code comment becuase i ask these ppl (who are employed by a company doing some crap development or IT support btw).. i say "so how exactly would you get paid if your company was to release it's product's sourcecode?" .. they respond with a dumb look and say something like "uh redhat makes money". a response like that deserves a DEMOTION to janitor. sorry fat ****, you're dungeons and dragons score ain't gonna save you this time. go home and reboot your BOXEE and twitter your life away.
lol, buy a windows tablet or spend a measureable percentage of your life justifying why you bought some stupid RIM or Android crap.
Bought a xoom last night. quite enjoying my limited **** beta O/S on it so far. Honeycomb has some bugs to be worked out but it will be pretty damn good.
the only ppl that buy them are the ones that take the effort to fight against windows.
Microsoft has paid my paycheques for quite some time now, so I'm not sure I fall into this category haha.
It'll be interesting to see what you have to say when, inevitably, Nokia & Microsoft release some kind of a tablet running windows mobile or something of the sort. There is a market for "limited, ****, beta O/S'" , they're selling like hotcakes

is it waterproof? i only ask because while in the kitchen it could be exposed to certain elements.
when I had an iPad i used it in the kitchen all the time . I wouldnt say its water proof but if you drip some sh*t on it, it wont be the end of the device
