  • Feedback on Tunedub

I'm considering taking my car to Tunedub to get my car maintenance done, I'm wanting to get away from the dealership. I was wondering if I could get some feedback from customers that have been there, good and bad experiences. I would appreciate it.

    Thanks guys!

i have never heard a bad thing about george and tunedub, i have taken my mk4 gti and b5 s4 there and he does great work, very honest, at a price way better than you will find at a dealership or many other mechanics! i highly recommend tunedub!

So George is the owner? An employee? How much is it for a synthetic oil change, approximately? I pay around $115 at the dealer so I assume it would be the same more, less. What is their hourly rate for other things?

Keep the feedback coming guys, thanks!

George is the owner. Always great work, advice and fair pricing. Just call if you want to know about cost.

Have taken my car there a bunch of times and have never had an issue. George is a great guy and you can leave there knowing that your car is in great hands.

A+ first class. Squeezed me in for a Timing belt at the last minute (was leaving town), dropped off car in morning, picked up at 1pm.

I hear nothing but great things about tunedub. George raped my father, but from what i hear he did a fantastic job! Also some of the mechanics that work for george live down the street from me. Real cool cats and knowledgable about the cars they work on. Always asking Q's about what i'm doing and lending advice.

I've seen georges work on his own car, he did a good job. That's how you rate someone imo ... Although, don't ever look under the hood of my cars lol

Great service. Great guy. Very fair pricing w/ let's face it probably better parts than stealers. Will never take my car anywhere else.

                      Re: Feedback on Tunedub

There are a lot of fans of TuneDub on this board, they will all tell you he is great. I honestly feel any competent VW mechanic can do the same caliber work. TuneDub does not do anything special that goes beyond average unless you are after some custom fab work. That being said, if your choice is between a non VW mechanic and TuneDub, than you should choose TuneDub every time.

No one on this board will want to hear this but...

TuneDub did leave my power mirror switch disconnected when they worked on my car, they also lost my vw emblem from my engine cover and cracked the cover. Mechanically speaking their work was top notch, but there were a few things that I could not let slide. At one point I had a DP installed, later on I worked on the car myself and found one stud on the DP was stripped and clearly just hammered on using an impact gun.

In all honesty these are the type of things that can happen at any mechanic, but I would like to have been informed of any issues with the car.

Consequently I now do all my own work wherever possible, that way I have only myself to blame when the work is not performed to my standard.

Lots of fans on here because they do good work and good customer service. Yeah any VW mechanic can repair a VW. They treat you awesome at TuneDub. GF had BOTH windows fall into her doors last week, she called and they squeezed her in same-day even though they had to stay open late!! Just to do her a favor.

Also the fact that they do custom work means they know the car even better than the 'minimum' needed to repair it by bolting on oem parts.

George also contributes to the local car culture and drives VW's himself so he stands by what he does. Whole business was built on good reputation and happy customers. Not sure how many of you guys knew George when he worked at a dealership but even then we would make sure we talked to him when we dropped off our cars for simple fixes under warranty etc. Just so that nobody else was the one working on the car.

Tunedub is one of the selling points for buying a used VW in Calgary IMO. I'm sure he's not perfect but I've been 100% pleased every time.

Speaking of which - Porsche guys, is there a Tunedub equivalent in Calgary for the Pcars?
