  • Nurburgring Shop in Calgary

    Morning,

Today I came into work and as always I sit down, drink my coffee and read the internal classifieds posts that employees post. I came across this question where a lady was asking if anyone knew a mechanic that specializes in German cars, obviously I replied back with Tunedub. Then someone replied back suggesting Nurburgring Ltd. Apparently there's this guy Juan who also specializes in Germans cars.

I guess what I'm trying to get at is, has ony taken their car(s) to this guy? I've never heard of him nor his shop.

I did. Got my timing belt done thinking I would save some cash... nope. Went to pick up my car, looked at his tool box and just the timing belt was sitting on his roller cart. So being in the industry (I wish I did it myself, but I was working 65+ hours a week) I know an aftermarket timing belt costs maybe $40. I ask him how much I owe him, he says $800. Seriously, no water pump was installed, didn't even do the acc belt which pissed me off. If he did the acc belt I probably would have not cared and given him the cash.

So I have on demand at home on my computer, if you don't know what it is, its a program used at sait for mechanic students to look up how to do jobs on cars, estimates, pay times and so on. Now a timing belt on my car with everything installed pays out around 7 hours (called my friend at VW). So I am pissed cause a friend recommended this guy to me, telling me that her does work for close to nothing. Now while I am pissed with this guy for wanting $800 my friend is on his side saying this is a good deal for a timing belt. BULLSH!T, I called VW and they charge $1200 with everything installed (TB,ACCB,WP). So I end up getting the guy down to $740 and I am sick of his bull **** right now.

So my summery of this guy, he makes his own prices and he takes advantage of people who don't know the cost of the repairs. I will never go back to him, I always tell people to stay away from him.

Ouch. I was at about $800 with timing belt, water pump & accb at Bert & Jacks.

      Guy sounds like bush league.

There's at least 3 or 4 good shops in town so no need to take your chances on new ones!
