Recaro Child Seats?

Anyone here using Recaro child seats? I hear there's a pretty hefty fine for using non CSA approved seats. Although they are very highly scored seats. If so how was the red tape getting through the border?

I can't imagine they are that hard to get here. Lots of people got seats up from the US the last time our dollar was strong. Just don't get pulled over.

Not really worth it in my opinion to use a non-CSA seat in Canada. There are plenty of good seats out there, better than the Recaro, that are CSA approved. Not only do you have to worry about a ticket, but god forbid the consequenses if you are in an accident and something happens to your child.

Do you just want the Recaro seats that bad?

If you are looking for a good seat that is CSA Approved and fits well in the MKIV I would recommend the Radian Kids seat, We have two of them and they are heavy as hell and good for children up to 65lbs so you kids will not grow out of it.

you guys really want to start this again .......... #1 safety tested baby seat in the world .........=RECARO . give me the ticket .... i will be getting yet my third RECARO seat for this baby . . if your kid is still alive in an accident because you didn't care how corrupt the csa rating system is(you need to bribe them with huge licensing fees to get the stupid sticker in a very small market ) ,your not the dummy Europe, usa, japan, Australia , all rate these seats as high . RECARO is number one for side impact and thats the most dangerous accident to an infant .....sometimes the govt . is not always looking out for us . . so ask yourself .... if you get in a horrific crash and your child is killed in a seat and there was a possibility a better seat could have save them . how would you feel . And if you had an accedent where again your child was injured or killed and you had bought the best seat availible in the world at least you did evrything you could have ....No?.... And when the seats are coverd in cheereos and snot they never look cool so thats not why i like them .

The only thing chris failed to mention is that if you get into an accident and your child dies and you live, then you will get charged for manslaughter and negligence. Also, if you get stopped by one of those new "child seat check stops" and they see the seats in use, you will get a $2500 fine per seat plus your child/ren will not be allowed to leave with you in those seats. If it does not have the csa sticker on it, it is illegal to use.

Great seat.....just illegal.

Recaro child seats are available for purchase here in Calgary.
Yes they are illegal.
Yes there are alternatives that score just as high as the Recaro that are CSA approved.
I actually have a seat that was made by Recaro for a different (csa approved) company. A little bit of the goooogle will provide that information. Although,.. you don't get the cool "Recaro" stitched seat-cover.

I googled and all I came up with is threads about whether they're legal or not. Pretty much the same as this one. Can't find a Canadian stamp. I don't care what the brand is, I've just heard they are very high rated.
