      Re: Fender bender

If you love your car, take it to your own body shop.

If you feel meh, then just go with whatever.

It's a bit of a conflict of interest if the body shop you go to has an under the table deal with the insurance company. E.g. the body shop agrees to fix things as cheaply as humanly possible and try as hard as possible to not declare a car a write off (even if it should be). The insurance company agrees to send them customers and/or pay them bonuses for coming in cheap. How does that help you...? Your car will almost certainly have non-oem parts used to fix it, as few coats of paint as they can get away with, etc etc.

        Re: Fender bender

Kor have you ever worked at a body shop and seen the inner workings? Insurance companies dont send business cause its cheap, the bodyshops have to meet strict standards of quality. Yes they will use aftermarket parts unless you ask/have and OEM parts clause on your policy. Bodyshops are allowanced a certain amount on parts, have to send a preliminary estimate to the insurance company, they then say yes or no, if its too much, then they get aftermarket/used parts.

They try and save cars from being written off because its business for them, they will take a small hit on parts to keep their body men busy, if the shop is busy they will write it off.

You cant just put on "a few coats of paint", there are certain coverage amounts you need, and very strict procedures you have to follow in order for it to work right.

i suppose i should have said "who struck whom." I just wanted clarity on who was at fault.

I don't condone violence against women, not sure what gave you that idea. Violence against you by women, however, is definitely acceptable.

              Re: Fender bender

i'm sorry but if someone hit me and it wasnt my fault i am definitely not taking aftermarket parts when i had original parts on the car before it happened...

or you can buy exotic car where aftermarket parts don't exist, that is solution #2

i was hit last year, so i will be now getting around to fixing my car, probably going to go to cosmos as well.
