  • Parking lot hit and run

    Hi All,

Someone I know was hit from sideways in a parking lot while trying to park, by a vehicle trying to drive through a feeder lane at the mall. The person quickly left the scene without exchanging information and now my friend is being told by the insurance that they are at fault for the accident.. Has anyone been in a situation like this? Is there any defense to prevent premiums from going up or do the insurance companies make the call at the end of the day?

The accident report clearly illustrates a hit and run. My friend is fully covered by insurance as far as the policy goes.. The officer said there is nothing that can be done however. Anyone who knows or has experience please help a brother out.

    Thanks,
It's time for an honest pint

have them ask for a no fault claim, based on the evidence and report.

Not a lot, thankfully. A few scratches on the plastic bumper and some trim clips missing on the inside fender splash it's a new 2010 so who knows... The hit and run car is light blue small to mid sized domestic (GM?) and has a bra, it's got damage on the front drivers side headlight. Sorry my friends a girl that does not know too much about makes and models, so no more detail then that. She said he took off too fast. It was at north hill center. Wait and see what the appraiser says I guess. Btw, What difference would there be to ask for no fault, and thanks for the tip guys.

I had to deal with a SUV backing onto the fender of my old jetta. Person took off without anyone seeing it. In the end just paid it out of pocket and insurance does jack all in those situations.

They really got to change the insurance regs in this province.

Thanks all - if you see a blue domestic that fits the bill be sure to post a camera photo of it. I will buy a case for anyone who gets me the culprit.
