    Not a bad idea really but I think the compensation should be a small set amount otherwise people who make a lot of money are going to fight every ticket for the chance at a day away from the office.

      and so they should.
      If i go to work to fight a ticket i lose out on earnings. I shouldn't have to pay for some guy with a gr12 education who can pass a PFT while dragging his knuckles to make mistakes.

      I will say this; not all police officers are bad. In fact the % of bad vs good is quite low. The problem is they seem to put the idiots on traffic duty. And it's these idiots who write BS tickets and go on their roid/ego trips. And its these clowns that are where 90% of the community end up dealing with the police.
      I look at people i know who want to be in the police. They have post secondary education with degrees or diplomas, and are good people, they cant get in for stupid reasons. But they let some meathead who can pass a personal fitness test in. It makes no sense.

        Re: Traffic Ticket - Yellow Light Infraction....doesn't make sense

        laws i wish the police WOULD enforce:

        (b) subject to this Part and Part 2, where a highway that is
        located outside an urban area has 2 or more traffic lanes
        on the same side of the centre line for use by vehicles
        travelling in the same direction, drive a vehicle in the
        traffic lane nearest the centre line unless the vehicle is
        being driven at or near the maximum speed permitted;
        (c) drive a vehicle at such a slow rate of speed so as to
        impede or block the normal and reasonable movement of
        traffic then existing on a highway except when it is
        necessary to do so for the safe operation of the vehicle or
        to comply with Parts 1 and 2.

        or

        (3) A peace officer may direct a person who is driving a vehicle in
        contravention of subsection (1)(c) or section 115(2)(q) of the Act to
        do one or more of the following:
        (a) increase the rate of speed at which the vehicle is
        travelling;
        (b) remove the vehicle from the roadway;
        (c) drive the vehicle in a different traffic lane.

              Agreed. Curious, what was your friend driving... did you have the tunes pumping... etc.?

              When I used to live in a small town... I would get pulled over all the time for this same kind of crap. Older more "mature" adults would run the yellows in their 4-door sedans all day long. However, drive a "heat score" of a car... have the music blaring... and a honey or two with blonde hair blowing in the wind and woop--woop.. you got a party! ...JK... I mean... you got yourself the attention of every policeman in town... whether you're actually breaking the law... or in this case... close enough.

              Sh*tty situation dude. Cheers...

                          Do the women on the force fit into the meathead category? trust me, it boils down to much more than the physical test. In fact the physical test is only the second part of the application process. There are many interviews, tests, a psych screening, and polygraph as well. As bright as your degree holding friends may be, frankly if they can't pass ALL of the elements of the application process, I do not want them working as a officer.

                          I work closely with CPS every day, and I've never had a bad experience dealing with any officers. The officer in question used his discretion and wrote the ticket for a reason. If you don't agree with it well then it's your right to fight it. However lets leave the "cop hating" and "cash grab" comments out of here. Do you hate the police for enforcing the laws you break? I'm glad CPS brings in revenue if they didn't our taxes would be a lot higher

                            FYI on the officers copy of the ticket, they usually write notes on the back regarding circumstances of the infraction, incase you do decide to fight it. They also make notes of any problems as well as offensive language and anything else creative you can think of. This could hurt you if you do decide to fight it.

                              i'm not the one fighting it. im also not stupid enough to give any further reason to the guy with the gun and ability to ruin my to do anything more than whatever he is attempting to do.
                              people who argue with cops just bring further trouble on themselves. if they pulled you over and are writing you a ticket, pissing them off further isn't going to get you anywhere. if you want to argue your case do it in court.
