      ^this, I absolutely hate when people call it a cash cow. Such a lack of logic, don't speed and they can't take your money, simple as that.

      Drive as fast as you want, but don't cry like a baby when you get caught...

          I dont approve of the red light/speed on green cameras, but really its plain and simple. If you get a ticket by a red light camera, you're a f*cking retard. Nuff said

                sure speeding is breaking the law, but it is a BS explanation and way of going about catching you. i'm not a lawyer, but the Act says that the registered owner of the vehicle is responsible for the offense. the ticket also states that the issuing officer CERTIFIES that it was you who committed the of offense. that is impossible if he hasn't pulled you over and visually confirmed that. they are speculating that is was you based on said registration. that is why it is a cash cow and for once, i agree with RONDAL. it does nothing but generate money. i don't have a problem paying a speeding ticket but i do have a problem if they are tricking me into paying it. some legal clarification would be nice, if someone could chime in with it, as opposed to a bunch of internet armchair lawyers.
                you probably don't like me because someone else said they didn't lol. <3

                      When Chile was trying to get these in, one of the municipal was over it. As a result they can't use them at all now down there.

                        green light camera profits went to pay Steven Ducketts severance package and the super board wages.

                        emnax profits come from your easymax statement that you sign up for. don't like how much enmax makes? sign up for direct energy.

                          doesn't matter when enmax still subsidizes cheap power to edmonton

                          As for why i'm against this;

                          Photo radar vans are NOTORIOUS for setting up in areas where SPEED is not a major factor contributing to accidents. In fact, they set vans up where there aren't accidents a lot of the time. Vans however are set up in areas where it is easy to catch speeders. ie. Road design, allows for the overall majority of drivers to exceed the posted limit.
                          Take for example outside the CBC on memorial; they set the van up in an area, less than 50m away from where the speed limit INCREASES. Who is this protecting? What accidents is it preventing? None. It is simply there to catch people who are 2 seconds too early to accelerate to the recommended speed limit.

                          Deerfoot vans same thing. They trap in the middle of the night, on empty stretches of 6 lane divided highway. Speed is not the crucial factor that leads to accidents in these areas.

                          I have NO problem if you want to shove a photo radar van in a school zone. There the speed you drive is extremely crucial. An empty stretch of highway? Whether someone is going 110 or 140 is really not a big deal.

                          Its the application of these vans that annoys me rather than their general use.
                          They aren't used to slow people down in crucial areas. They are placed in areas where they will generate the highest amount of profit.

                          And for the crowd that says "speed is always a factor in accidents"......no kidding. So is the fact you're in 3000lb car. But time and time again road accidents report that a majority of the time SPEED IS NOT THE CONTRIBUTING FACTOR THAT LEADS TO AN ACCIDENT.

                            Andrew is the factor in all road accidents.

                              I can personally disagree, where they set up under stony trail on 16th ave in the west, right at the valley ridge turn off, i have personally seen more than 5 cars hit the ditch in that area, that bridge ices up and people start spinning cause their car gears down cause they speed up for the hill. I have seen them sitting in playground zones more often which is nice, there are a lot of times that they shouldnt be sitting in areas too.

                              I dont know how much sense this makes, i got bored and stopped caring.
