So this hasn't really bothered me during the summer when I was driving the Jetta, its low to the ground, decent visibility etc. But this winter i've been driving on and off our family SUV and I've noticed that about 70% of newer audis I see on the road at night don't have their headlights on and are just running those LED strings.
I never realized how dangerous it was until I started driving a taller vehicle again. With the LED's low beam and lack of substantial output it makes these audi's incredibly difficult to see at night when they are behind/beside you. The first vehicle I drove was a bigger truck and I used to use our SUV quite a bit so its not that I'm not used to it or something as I've never had problems seeing people with their headlights on, its just these damn audi's.
From what i've read these are just supposed to function as daytime running lights NOT driving lights. So am I wrong and these are actually supposed to be driving lights? or are there a bunch of clueless audi owners in calgary that think it looks cool so they just run those?-> saw an R8 in kensington tonight cruising with just these on, so low I doubt anything higher than a subaru would be able to see him very well.
