Autotemp ne, crap service and work do not go there!

SO I got a deck and some speakers installed at autotemp some time ago because i am very short on free time to do it and my deck crapped out on me.
When i pick up my car the door panels are not on properly (very obvious) and there's a huge scratch in the tint on my window. So i go back in there the guy says oh ya sure i will re-tint it free of charge and fix the panels but wouldn't give me any money back on the install. So i leave them my car for a another whole day and when i pick it up the tint its obviously darker than every other window and there is little bubbles in the tint job and the guy there tells me it will fade to match in a few days and by that time the water inside should dry up and the bubbles will go away. I also asked who did it and they told me it was sent out to get done. So alright i leave it for a few weeks until i can get time to go back because it hasn't changed at all. Then the manager tells me he did it himself so it was not sent out like i was told before and that he will not re tint any of my other windows to match but he will only tint the opposite side window to match IF i pay to get the glass removed or remove it myself. So i go back again because that is sh*t and he tells me again he will not match it to any of my other windows because why should he. Then if I can find a tint that it the same as what i had he will put it on but why should I have to go out and search for them when they screwed up??

If you work in a shop and you damage some body's paint and its an old car and the paint is faded you cant only paint that one panel you have to paint the whole car. Autotemp is the worst place i have ever had to deal with for anything and the worst management i have ever seen.

Also their sub/amp installs are sh*t all they do it put the subs in the box wire it up and throw the amp loose behind the box and run power wires under neath trim panels that rub on the doors when open and closed. So for anybody looking for any stereo/alarm/remote start/heated seat work done stay far far away from Autotemp!

eesh, sounds like a huge pain. I find its really hit and miss with audio installers, last car I had done at visions and they attached some of the deck wires by twisting them on and wrapping with electrical tape.

I had the deck fry a few months later because one of the wires grounded frying a speaker output. Took it back and reemed the guy on the kindergarten install and he told me if I had it done at the dealer they would have done the same thing , they wouldn't budge and claimed I had damaged it somehow, after going back and forth with them for a few months their solution was to give me a deck worth half the value of mine (because they no longer made my deck) and it was a store demo at that!!!!

1. How clean was the interior/exterior of your car when you took it in?
2. No shop will ever refund money for something, they will just do something else for you free of charge.
3. If a car has faded paint and it gets a scratch, don't kid yourself, the one panel will get repainted and MAYBE the surrounding panels will get polished.(I've worked at a few shops)
4. Nothing will ever get sent out to be done unless it cannot be done in-shop.
5. The minimum they should have done was re-tinted the two front windows.
6. Also how was your attitude when you were talking to these guys? If it was anything like the vibe I'm getting from the post, i'm not surprised they didn't help you out. No matter how retarded they are you gotta keep your cool, people help friendly people out, and tell angry people to screw off.

I have an 03 GTI. I was nice about it the first time and willing to work with them that's why i left it with them the 2nd whole day. Then it still was not right and i was still cool about it i just asked what can you do for me since my tint still is not the same, fair question right?? then i was still nice until he started telling me i had to pay more money so that they could fix their screw ups and waste my time looking around for matching tint but why?? The fact that they gave me a totally not matching tint on my windows and considered it good enough to give back should tell you how well that is run. When some cars got damaged at SAIT i know they had to repaint the whole car for it to match. Also some of the teachers there in the automotive program got their whole cars painted when they were damaged in shops because it wouldn't match. I am just fed up with them now and trying to be a nice guy about it is not working, being nice does not always work people will just walk all over you.

I went there because visions a few years ago fried one of my decks and i had to get them to send it out to get replaced and they told me it was already like that.. and the other visions i went to told me i had the wrong dash in my truck so they had to make a dash kit for it that looked like sh*t and was held in by stuff used on construction sites to hold pipes up on ceilings.. I don't think an S10 is so uncommon that they have never seen one 1998 - when they stopped making them in 04 maybe its all the same. Future shop also cut up a wiring harness in a friends car and left it like that when it was picked up and wired the power wire from the car to the antenna wire off the deck and said the deck doesn't work and the installer said he knew how Volkswagen work and put the stereo in his car.

Well sait having the automotive program probably just runs it over and gets paint to do it, no major cost to them cause students are paying to be there and they would have insurance.

As far as your case would go, yeah at this point i'd be pissed and i would have caused a lot more problems then you did.

- He shouldn't have to refund your money for the install
- You should install stuff yourself because not only does it save tons of time and money but they dont screw stuff up while they work on your car. Also you are going to be a mechanic, shouldn't you already know this stuff?? If you need help with the install i'd be willing to bet that people here would help you out for free, me included (if you text me :P)
- i would take him up on the offer of retinting the other window if you take it out yourself. You are taking auto mechanics at SAIT, should be a snap for you. Or just spend a little time searching for a matching tint. All you basically need to do is get pulled over by a copper and ask him to use his tint gun for a second lol

i installed for 4 years, 3 at certified radio (quit couple months ago due to shop drama) and when the odd **** up happened we did what we could to make the customer happy. it comes down to the installer owning up to his mistakes and the manager dealing with it.

as for the refund... rarely like i mean ive only seen it happen 2 times and it was MAJOR.

Eurotuner has it right you need to have a good attitude and not yell swear and go off that will get you the boot. be understanding but stand your ground.

any aftermarket shop NEEDS!!!!!!!! to have a check in and check out sheet. i spent 10min on every car i brought in testing every thing. i have OCD as do many other people if its not the same going out as it came in that wont do. if i found noticeable things wrong i would tell the forman and the salesman for that customer and if said customer was still around i would go to them directly to talk about what i noticed and it has saved alot of problems.

i do miss doing the work but that industry is dieing has been for a while. plus I HATE SHOP DRAMA! and formans that don't do their job!... sorry litte rant there.

My car was decently clean a little dusty it wasnt spotless but there was maybe only some fuzy dice under the driver seat and a snowbrush in the back. The problem for me doing it myself the first time there was big problems with the wiring and i was impaitent. After they install i had problems with connections from their install and i guess my deck crapped out this time. I dont have a lot of time now to do it myself. After i asked for the money back i understood why he cant and dont expect it back now. Why they tell me different stories and give the car back with it not matching and saying its good? Thats no good at all, just shows they do stuff half assed with a thats good enough attitude

These are the types of things I've been through when I was younger and made me do everything my self! I wouldn't even let a friend do it for me, unless I was there watching him. With time, you'll have patience to do it yourself to avoid **** like this, because shops don't give a fukc period. I've had everything from shops fuking up my tranny to stereos install to having to re tint the whole car. I know it's sad...but now nobody touches my car, maybe george bcuz I trust him but that's it
