    Re: Christmas is near.

    That was pretty intense...

I was first at the hospital when my best friend was flown in from BC after taking his car off the road drunk. He was a mess and they really didn't have much to work with. Broke his neck in 2 places. He somehow pulled through it, but has a lot of lasting injuries. He's a mechanic, and many years later, he's still having problems reaching in certain angles, or looking up while under a vehicle, and he runs out of energy a lot quicker in a day.

At any rate, it's not something anyone needs to experience, as a victim, or friend/family.

So enjoy the holidays, and make sure we're all here after to chat about them!

          Alternatively, drink AT home.

My sister was in a hospital for over a year recovering from injuries she received and her boyfriend died when a drunk driver hit them. He was driving with a suspended license, which had been taken away for drunk driving.

My sister will never fully recover. She cannot walk without assistance and she has large gaps in her memory. Plus a whole bunch of other issues.

            Please guys drive safe.

As someone that has had a very close relative die due to drunk driving, save everyone else in your family the pain and anguish and just not be stupid.
P.S the legal limit is now 0.05 in BC, something to think about.

remember to remind your employer that in some provinces and cities they are legally required to provide alternative forms of transportation home after a christmas party if there will be alcohol present.

good point, every place i've worked at so far has offered taxi chips at their christmas events.

I have the 0 tolerance policy as well. Really hit home a couple years ago when my cousin died while drunk driving (only 25 when he passed away). After a night of drinking whats a $40 cab ride anyways!

                      Re: Christmas is near.

I reiterate my point about simply not drinking out, and if you're hosting ensure that if people won't cab it home that you can/will provide places for them to sleep as well.

It's a verbal rule of mine for any party I host, if you drink you don't leave unless it's in a cab.

My employer won't do it. It's ridiculous. Not my place to fight it, I like my income, but none of us will have more than a drink with dinner now.

one of my good friends couple years ago was driving up to ft mac with his feonsay and they got hit head on by a drunk driver. tore both vehicles appart, buddys stomach was ripped open and coming out also his back, head and arms are badly burned. sadly his feonsay did not make it. from where he was to where he is now my god he is the strongest person ive ever met. not just physically but mentally. hes taken all the feelings from it and put it into the gym. hes my inspiration for getting a trainer and learning how to work out.

people need to know their limits when drinking.

good plan, I cant remember the exact legality of it but I believe if you supply the alcohol you are legally responsible to ensure they don't drink and drive. Call me a bad friend but I have no reservation calling the cops on a friend if they are inebriated and refuse to hand over the keys and decide to drive, i'd rather see them lose their license than harm themselves or another person.
