you mean slapping big seals with eagles on them all over the old domains isn't an effective deterrent?

They hit approx 0.5% or less of the total sharing/counterfeit websites out there? Way to go! How much did that cost the US?

Sure they are fighting a loosing battle but this is through ICANN which is seizing domains, hosting means nothing on this one so in theory it could happen to any site with 'illegal' activity as most registrations pass through ICANN.

I see what you are saying but... what about IP addresses? Usenet servers? Torrent is based off a search but then gets an index from a dynamic domain normally (dyndns for example, which is free service that is going to get boned by this) then off to the IPs stored in the list, if they make the torrent grab its sources from an index on an IP, then they haven't slowed the process down at all... but I guess the IP would lead directly to the server so it better be hosted outside the US.

I buy all my music on Itunes. The way I see it is how much I used to spend. Seriously, $25-30 on a cd at HMV and how its just $10. I'm happy with that
