LOL, honest people don't steal!!!!! but I know what you mean haha. I think though if you were to run locking wheel nuts they would have to make a lot more noise getting them off the vehicle, chances are they aren't walking around with a key to every locking nut imaginable. I've always run locking nuts on my vehicles whether the wheels were worth anything or not, except for the jetta, if someone really wants my LBs they can have them haha, just leave me some steelies to drive home with.

If a wheel thief sees wheels they want, they will look at the lock, get a tool, stop by one night, test it, if it doesn't work, more research, another tool, try again, repeat as necessary, some of these guys are actually smart.

haha, smart is a relative term...

I was just judging by the fact that since the guy was visting, chances are he hadn't been their long so a thief may have not had time to do trial and error

But it didn't have lock nuts now did it? I bet if it did they would still be there. And some rat wouldn't have 6g's in his pocket.

They don't have a toolchest, they use a gatorgrip and bang it on which removes almost any of the locks. Or the kind I have they use needlenose unless it's completely recessed.

Wouldn't a set of these take care of all 'locking' wheel nuts?

pretty sure you couldnt get one of those into the bolt holes on the wheels let alone get one in that is big enough to fit around the lug nut. could be wrong but my tire iron isn't very thick and it doesn't have much clearance between it and the edge of the bolt hole

pro theives have all kinds of crap, usually including spare locks for almost any nut.
this used to be a huge problem at SFU in Vancouver. HUGE parking lots, and lots of nice cars driven by asians. you'd literally have a team of pro wheel thieves come in, block the car and have the wheels off within 2-3 minutes. they dont muck around.

Those are hard to get on the actual lock because you can only get a little bit of contact area on most lock nuts.

I have a set at work I use to remove customers locking nuts because they lost their lock key. Its a socket that is perfectly round that tightens on the inside. pound that socket on with a soft blow and the lock key if off withing seconds.

Locks will help as a deterrent for an opportunist thief. For what they cost it's worth a try to protect your wheels.

The next line of defense would be a tilt sensor on the alarm or garage the car whenever possible.

There are no opportunist wheel thief's. Not many people just carry a jack and different sized sockets around for the fun of it.

I am not usually too concerned about locking nuts as if someone wants something bad enough they will get it one way or another and that is for more than just wheels.

My question is what is fueling the demand for Escalade wheels? Are people putting them on pickups, older Escalades? And are you not supposed to ditch the stock ones for blingy 24s?
