Some book publisher found out who it was and wrote a book about it, it was part of his contract that his name not be released and since it was, he is gone.

it was the worst kept secret that the old stig was ben collins, i dont know why they had to do away with him.
it messes up the power board and stuff with a new driver because its a new variable in the equation.

Actually I believe he released it himself.

collins wasn't fully prepared to reveal it, but the writer pushed the matter, and the BBC was forced to go to court over it. the BBC lost and now everyone knows its ben. i called this one a while back. the list was fairly short for who the stig could be, as we knew from the style it wasn't an F1 driver. When Ben Collins had a crash in his touring car race, and the Stig magically disappeared for a few episodes it was all but confirmed in my head that it was him. He fit the build, height and all of him, and the accident and his disappearance was pretty coincidental.

Either way, I think they should keep ben around. he's proven he's one of the best, and thats really all that matters

im pretty sure thats not the case as clarkson and collins had a huge falling out over this and clarkson publically declared collins "history" and "sacked" as far as he was concerned

uh dude, not to sound like an ass, but the definition of autobiography is that it is written by the person it is about, if it were written by someone else and Ben collins wasn't prepared to reveal it, then by definition it would be a biography. That is why they made a jab in the vid about "some stigs thinking they can write books". If you watch the video in the link below he also talks about starting a new career as a writer

I would assume they would be starting a new power board, just as this current one was restarted when they went from Black to White Stig.
