    Re: Hyundai Car Help

Someone I know works at a shop that does all makes/models. I could ask him what a complete clutch job on a 2003 tiburon is? He'll just look it up in the book. Where there different engines or anything for that year?

Clutch Kit + flywheel parts are probably $1000-1200 for the VR6, $400-500 for the 4 cylinder. Now we are assuming that they need a new flywheel here. Thats what I would call a worst case scenerio, you could get away just needing the clutch kit and not the flywheel.
A dealer will replace everything mostly because that is how they work. A good small shop will give you your options, but will also advise you if you have no choice.

VR6 is the different setup from the 1.8t's and TDi's. Both got the Dual mass flywheel and the problems that go with them. Like I mentioned most go with the Single mass setup, but a person with no clue might go to the dealer and get hosed with the true OEM setup.

        Good luck

Thanks for the replies and PM's everyone. I have forwarded the PM's and some of the advice on the forum to her.
Once again I am amazed by the generosity and input of the Euro drivers community. Many thanks.

Ok, so what I heard is that price isn't outrageous (but maybe has a bit of a dealership premium) the reason being it has a dual mass flywheel and the cost of replacing it is the bulk of the cost.

That being said, I believe if only the clutch pack needs to be replaced and the flywheel is fine it will cost considerably less, there may also be a conversion kit to get rid of the dual mass.

            Hope that helps.

And $2000 is very high, is there a price control for car services? My friend also went to a car shop to have his car fix and he paid for the clutch kit plus the services which is $1800 the total cost.
