        Re: Halloweeeeeeeeeeenie

        Here! I am BOOOOOOOOOORG.

I started the costume last year. But I didn't get around to finishing it. I had a bunch of ideas that I didn't have enough time to finish. So this year, I'm giving it a good go.

This is the pulse wave modulation circuit that will be controlling my antenna and the 30+ blue led's that are being mounted under the body padding. The led's will pulsate from bright to dim over a 3-4 second period

This is the head peice. It's made of a soft foam and painted black. You can see through the eye peice. And it attaches to my head with a black headband.

It currently controls the leds, laser and servo based on the infrarred distance sensor. The laser automatically aims itself at the nearest object (i.e. person)

The next programming will include pulse wave modulating fading on the ultra bright blue led's that will be under the pads. They will pulsate very slowly from dim to bright over a period of 4 seconds.

Then the last programming will be added on to communicate with the OSD circuit board for the LCD Screen. Information from the infrared sensor, and a variety of other sensors will be overlayed on top of an mpeg video on the LCD screen.

Close up of my main micro controller board

These are the led's that will be mounted under the body pads. I'll space them out around the joints. So my joints will pulse from dim to bright in blue over 3-4 seconds.

Not fully sure what to do about batteries yet. These batteries are for my lighting kit on my mountain bike. they power 2 hid bulbs for about an hour. They're 2400 mha. I don't know what the current draw of the LCD screen is yet. But i'll have them in series at 14.4v @ 2400mha. I'll do a test this week. I'm not worried about the current draw of the led's or laser as they're small and can run of 3 AAA batteries all night if i need too.

These are the body pads. I got them from walmart for kids. They had these real cheap ones, so it didn't cost me too much.

I attached a bunch of wires and crap to a chest peice. I painted it black. Then I cut a hole in it to fit the LCD screen.

The inside of the chest peice

This is a green plasma bulb. The more voltage you give it, the higher the plasma climbs to the top. I'll have it pulse with the modulation of the led's. It's my "antenna" and will sit on my back facing up.

The lcd screen is going to play an mpeg file off my ipod nano that will pretty much just be a few white flashes and the odd static. Maybe some melting or plasma. Some neat effects. Then I have this OSD circuit board that will hook up to my microcontroller board. I'll be able to put text over top of the mpeg with random information and numbers. I'm going to display the value of the pulse wave voltage from the ADC. I'm also going to display the distance and voltage on the sharp IR distance sensor. And some statuses of leds. nothing special, but at least interactive.

here is the lcd mounted on the chest

                Lol thanx!

I'll post more when it's done. Most of my past costumes are elaborate. I made a tickle me Elmo costume out of fur from a pajamas template. Sewing experience I'll never forget and the head was heavy. I made a bender costume by modifying a garbage can. I also did some plain ones like clock work orange dude.

                Haloween is my fav!!!!
