you must not have a professional job and much experience with the iphone. the problem is, the blackberry was considered the "business phone" due to it's wicked concept of PUSH for instant email and bbm. however, that was a long time ago and canada does move a lot slower then the rest of the high profile countries...

the push technology has moved to other devices over the past few years and is also more advanced on other devices. this is due to the open environment for the application. i don't mean open for device itself and it's application market,... i mean for the application to determine it's own push servers and application protocol. where blackberry requires a specific server, a specific install and a specific mobile network.

the iphone not only has better push (for applications that are supported i.e. email, facebook, msn, etc). it also has a much better navigation interface then the blackberry. the blackberry does have customizable icons, but they are still selected through a crude interface IO (replacing the trackball clit with a direction pad was not an improvement). the crude interface IO of the blackberry requires a fustrating learning period that puts it behind the iphone interface.

additionally, the iphone has a fantastic sync and calendaring application built right in. you don't need a exchange server or resident system tray applications for syncing with your local outlook calendar and contacts.

also, the iphone has a closed application marketplace which prevents "crap" from being purchased or installed. there is no software on the iphone marketplace that can crash your phone or steal contacts and personal information... unlike the black berry that has absolutely zero control of it's third party development.

ppl argue that apple has nazi ways of enforcing and chosing applications for it's customers. but in fact, apple is merely making sure it's customers get the best software and not the **** that is available else where. apple is weeding out the fat D&D level 9 kid with open source eclipse hippy ******** IDE for his pathetic java compiler from writing shitty code that crashes your phone.

and chosing java as a devlepment platform for a phone? are you f'n kidding me? what is this 1998? when every dot com startup dreamt of a processor with embedded java pre processing? what a f'n waste of energy. i don't just mean energy consumption of the multiple cores sharing the workload of the preprocessor to risc assembler.. i mean the actual energy in even considering the idea as being a viable solution. it can't survive on it's own without crappy supportors of blackberry (who is the last embedded java processor on the market) who are too ignorant to move to the iphone!

so smarten up black berry users and let technology take it's course by moving ahead. quit stalling us and buy an f'n iphone already. if i miss out on experiencing time travel or a method of communicating across all 26/11/10 (you pick the theory) dimensions .... then i'll be seriously pissed and you can definetly expect me to write a blackberry app that will publish your BBM conversations to the world.

I am not one of those who will hail praise on the mountain top about BB. Nor will I do it about Android or IPhone. I'm not a tech savvy whizkid who will spill every bit of tech info on either of the phones, but I do like my BB, and so do many of my friends, and that's where I stay. I'm not going to bash on IPhones or Androids, and especially on their users, as was previously expressed by a member.

I saw the IPhone4, Played around with it a bit, and I gotta say it's phenominal, but I have no use for it. Same goes for a few Android phones, but I don't need to be the lead follower of someone's tech game. I don't need to be the first one holding the latest piece of technology. I have the BB 9000 and I still like it. For what I use it for, it's perfect for me.

All I'm saying is yes, there are a few snots who glorify these little pieces of tech, and will rag on everything else. I am not one of those...and generalizing all BB users to be the same is a little radical and unfair.

Let me put it this way....Apple is nothing but marketing hype. The corner store of their business model used to be quality and stable quality product for a nische market, now their products are plagued with problems and now their business model is based on the bottom line only. Remember the commercials with the kid and chubby guy (mac vs pc)? well..apple is the new microsoft and he's getting chubby! stop being a brandwhore, lose your emotional attachment to a brand! Thats all....

Dj is spot on, as is cam. I can't stand apple, Steve jobs lives in some sort of dreamland, where he is some sort of messiah.

I resisted an iPhone for so long, avoided having anything apple in my life, but holy ****. This isn't a phone, it is so much more than that. So much more. I have spent this last week on vacation, without my laptop power supply. So I have been using my phone, works like a goddamn charm. Haven't missed a beat, watching the same tv that I would have watched on my laptop, I have my emails, I am checking the forums that follow, I am also checking facebook, and hell even reading books. All with ease and simplicity.

I also have no car out here, so I just hop into my maps app, tell it where I want to go, and bingo, I have a route, with a list of times of departures, all using transit. Fucking unreal. It is more laptop than phone. Hell in the two months I have owned this thing, I have racked up a mere 59 minutes of talk time. I know this because I have a Rogers app that tells me my talk time, data, and everything else I want to know.

You all keep talking about what you need, you don't need this, you don't need that. This phone has nothing you need. You don't need anything more than shelter, clothing, and food. This something that gives you more than you thought you wanted. I am not happy with my iPhone, I am blown away by it.

I currently only have a functioning net netbook, but after this week, I don't think I even need that. An iPad may be in my future.

Whereas my dad has the most kick ass bb you can get, and it does one tenth of what this thing can muster. He downloaded one app, and it crashed his phone, had to send it back. It has a dinky screen due to the keyboard filling half the surface area.

It also uses a normal goddamn headphone jack. So my dad has both an iPod and a bb. Which is a joke.

I can't wait to see what the iPhone 5 can do, considering what the 4 and my measly 3GS can do.

i won't argue apple's business ethics. you are on target. apple products appeal to the sheep of the world. the ones that think they're original because they're the same.

tell you what... i'd rather own a few sheep products then stretch my earlobes, dye my hair, tattoo my neck and hang out at the ship and anchor!

but really, being different is what we all are. i gaurentee your butthole smells different then your girlfriends even though you share the same food. so that should be enough. therefore, buy an iphone and don't feel that you are a sheep.

i don't have an emotional attachment to a brand. i have an emotional attachment to technology. for example, the iphone's simplified interface and controlled marketplace provides a very comfortable, safe and easy environment. sounds like an apple marketting line, doesn't it? it's not... it's my opinion based on experience.

if you want to get freaky with your iphone, then there are plenty of "hax0r" tools to play with. for example is the development IDE. you can write some cool shiznizz with little effort. -OR- if you get yourself a 3G or first gen, then throw android on it with iphodroid. i have android on my first gen iphone, it's fun but a POS.

i also have a legit android phone, and i can rant about what a peice of shiz it is all day. it's so bad, that i lent it to mattie (sorry matt, but i'd never lend you a good phone).

i own a bunch of technologies because it's sorta what i do and i have a passion for it. however, my instictual understanding of the inner workings of electronics is also a curse. i recognize design faults and flaws and that causes difficulty in allocating my personal time to learn it. blackberry is an example. it would be a waste of my time to learn anymore of it then i already know because it will disappear soon.

i'm far from a brandwhore. however, i do wear a lot of blue. is blue a brand?

i have a few laptops, one being a macbook pro 17. it's sh!t. it really is. i absolutely can't stand it. i spend most days coding in assembler for hardware IO and also know the difference between intel cores by their hardware interrupts. however, i can _NOT_ for the life of me take the time to learn how to use OS/X! i'm feeling angry just typing this.

the other day, i made graeme reboot my MAC into windows for me because i was about to throw the macbook out the door onto the street.

i don't care about brands. i care about the right technology.

black berry is a wrong technology for growth. i hope you don't have stocks in rim.
