I had Porsche Unleashed for PC but I liked High Stakes better. I do admit to backing up my save files before playing though... The stakes were too high lol

Needs for Speed has always been more so a racing arcade game and GT has always been a racing simulation game. It depends on what the player prefers. I'll probably just rent this, but I definitely am going to buy GT5! Game looks great!

Re: Need For Speed Trailer / Porsche 918 Spyder

I watched a documentry on the making of GT5 and it looks like its going to be the king as far as racing sims go. Alot of data was used for the physics and gameplay aspect as the graphics took a back seat, which is still good. I find Forza 3 is kind of choppy in handling, but has great engine and exhaust notes which very closely mimics the real thing. Another thing I couldn't get used to was the lack of perception of speed and knowing when to brake. I either brake to earlier or way to late. Never had this problem with the GT series. Can't wait to get my hands on this finally after 4 years.

As for the NFS's new game...looks good but as someone mentioned earlier is purely arcade style of a game. I played the original NFS game on a Panasonic console, pre-PS1, which its name I can't recall, and remember playing it for hours on end. It was the first racing sim game that entered the market and have wished that the makers of NFS would of stayed on that track. Blasting through mountain roads and city highways in corvettes, vipers, NSK's and supras. Can't really get into the NFS series games anymore. Most Wanted was pretty good and so was underground just for the fact that you can highly modify the appearence of the car. I disliked Pro Street as well as the last one that came out which was Carbon. I bought Carbon and returned it the next day, as selling it as a used game while taking a hit on the original purchase price. It was that horrible. Picked up Dirt 2 and never looked back. From now on, I will rent any new NFS game before buying it instead of relying on screen shots from the internet and TV commercials.

I agree, exactly why i said i hope they have a demo out first, so many NFS games have been a disappointment in the past. this one has good heritage though. fingers crossed

Re: Need For Speed Trailer / Porsche 918 Spyder

i'd actually say (in terms of arcade style racing) carbon was one of the better ones, although it definitely isn't the most recent!!! carbon is older than prostreet, i think carbon came out in 2006.

Just to see what racing games were like on the wii I bought NFS shift as it was super cheap, but unfortunately it sucked, i'll stick to mario cart on the wii haha.

I think I liked pro street so much because they got rid of the lame street driving, which is cool at first but just gets stupid after a few hours of playing. But it still retains the fun modifications you can do, I haven't played any of the recent forza/GT games but from the ones I used to play the modifying was so lame, couldn't have any fun with it (may have changed on newer versions). Also the fact that you get to do everything from time attacks, to drags, to drifts, to wheelie competitions. Sure some of it may not be realistic but still a hell of a lot of fun in my eyes, and WAAAAAAAAAY more accurate handling/vehicle response than any other NFS game. However it is definitely not as good as Forza or GT series.

I guess it really boils down to want you want out of a racing game. For me, I would prefer realism, but at the same time I don't enjoy the monotony of the GT and Forza games. so something like prostreet struck a good balance I think. However it kind of falls in a crack in the market, the NFS followers won't buy it because it is too realistic and not like the arcade style they like, but the Forza/GT fans won't buy it either because its not realistic enough haha.

I'm glad NFS seems to be going back to their roots with this game. Their earlier games were the best by far. I just hope the physics aren't crap.

Also TDU2 looks immense! I want to play it so bad!

The demo for NFS Hot Pursuit is out now, heard it is very glitchy but have not tried it yet as I need to get a gold live subscription some time soon.
