  • Legal???

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FhomxdWKZhA

Saw a motorcycle with them the other day. Did some Googling and found lots of peddlers out there. Example: http://autolumination.com/

They flash 20 times a second for 2 seconds and then stay on.

      Re: Legal???

EMS and stuff have brake lights that strobe like 3 times and then go on solid, but that car is retarded.

          Re: Legal???

I have read some trains of thought that think that a quick flashing before a solid brake light gets the attention of the driver behind you that much quicker. That though is just bloody annoying.

            Re: Legal???

I'm going to say definitely not legal. What is the reason for this??

24(1) A person shall not drive or operate a vehicle that has a flashing lamp unless the flashing lamp is allowed or required under this Regulation or another regulation under the Act.

Edit: Another thing to consider to is that flashing light, specifically at night, could blind a driver temporarily as their eyes attempt to re adjust, this would especially be apparent on newer cars with those bright azz LED tails.

                Re: Legal???

It's brake lights, never heard of people going blind looking at tail lights, and if you're so old and have eye issues maybe you shouldn't be driving.

The rate is 20 times per second, the comments state the camera doesn't capture the correct pattern.

It's for 2 seconds, EMS vehicles do at least 1 second if not more.

Let's make a video of fire trucks and ambulances at night and whine about it too.

                    lul. beat me to it.

there are enough distractions on the road, I doubt another one is going to make a huge difference, but for the sake of being realistic and not completely fucking retarded, don't buy tail lights/brake lights that are going to cause seizures.

i think all your lights should just blink all the time for optimal visibility. Traffic signals should strobe too.

                            Re: Legal???

That would seriously piss me off if it happened every time they braked. It's completely over the top and my first impression was what the hell is going on rather than thinking they were braking.

Some newer cars flash the hazard lights when they detect the driver is performing an emergency brake. This is okay but following drivers should be able to tell how fast a car in front is stopping without additional prompts.
