The Passport 9500ci Radar Detector combined with a Blinder M47 Laser Jammer is as good as it gets. Hidden installation, superb X, K, Ka radar detector, total electronic invisibility to all police radar detector detectors in the world, speed camera alerts, photo radar alerts, red light camera alerts, laser detection, laser jamming, park assist, and laser jamming that will prevent all laser guns from reading your speed while you slow down. Both the Passport 9500ci and Blinder M47 provide WEB updates, so when new speed cameras are installed in the USA or Canada, or if new laser guns come out, simply download the new software codes from your computer. Bart, I lol at your statement of driving in Poland....in a good way. I'm Polish too and have driven back home, but you cant honestly compare European driving to whatever people do on the roads here in Canada.....
Re: Do 40 km/h over speed limit in BC, car gets impounded.
140 km/h, when trying to pass on the passing lanes or dotted lines I know I got faster then that. On the dotted lines where you could pass you need to move quick or you won't get no where.
Like mentioned the problem becomes cops who need to fill their quota's or be jack @$$es will use/abuse the law when they want.
I barely drive out to BC, guess this is just another excuse not to go.
Just my 2 cents

Hasn't Ontario had a similar law out since 07? I believe if they catch you going over 50k/hr they impound your car for 7 days, license suspended for 7 days and min $2000 max $10,000 Fine........ It won't be long till the whole country gets the law.......just imagine how much monies the province will make come Jan 1 when the "no eating, make-up, calling, texting law" comes into effect. $1500 fine instantly........ No more make up for me on the road I tells yah.

$1500? Wow.
Graeme is fucked. All that road head he gives while driving is a serious distraction. Not to mention the white make up he wears after.
you've clearly never driven any of the highways in BC.
i'll agree whole heartdly that 40 over in urban areas is excessive and should get that kind of treatment. but when your main highway has a speed limit that is well under the national average simply because you as a government are too lazy to redo speed limits, theres a problem.
this is also a RIDICULOUS attempt to try and cure a problem that doesn't exist. you show me the statistics that show SPEED as the #1 cause of an accident. Many times speed is a factor, but things like; driver distraction, intersections, and other variables are usually the primary concern when relating to accidents. The government LOVES to use SPEED and say its a factor. of course speed is a factor...you're in a moving vehicle. But excessive speed? i've yet to see the documentation that shows its the main problem. in fact, i've seen nothing but the opposite when it comes to traffic safety stats.
You want to clean up the roads, implement a driver licensing program that actually forces people to know how to drive before they are given their license. BC has got to be one of the worst provinces in Canada when it comes to handing out licenses to those that should not qualify. Tighten up the licensing, and you might have better drivers on the road to begin with.
Congrats BC. Another tax grab.
very true i think the last study in the uk done over 3 years could only pin down 3% to just excess speed.
it seems to me that here in canada you are taught how to pass a test not how to drive.
Re: Do 40 km/h over speed limit in BC, car gets impounded.
you have to realize though that all other problems (distractions, driver error etc) are compounded by speed and to argue otherwise would be very ignorant.
Re: Do 40 km/h over speed limit in BC, car gets impounded.
like i said, speed is always a factor, you are of course in a moving vehicle. but to say SPEED kills is blatently untrue.
there are many places that have higher speeds, and better traffic statistics. Guess why....they have properly trained drivers and got rid of all the bullshitt that goes on on our roads.
Distracted driver law is a great example. how fcking long does it take to implement? Maybe if you enforced that.....

Re: Do 40 km/h over speed limit in BC, car gets impounded.
i think its a case of the grass is greener, if you look at statistics for death toll per capita due to road accidents canada ranks on par with europe.
Don't know why people on here keep saying canadians are worse drivers and claim that europeans have this amazing driver training. I have many friends from overseas who say in europe its just as bad but just a different kind of bad because the driving styles and road styles are so different.
but I'm glad to see in the end people seem to agree speed is always a factor and thus laws like this are very important to saving lives. Sure there will always be people speeding on a regular basis, but there is no doubt in my mind if you were to increase these 90 zones to 110 to try to appease these speeders than people would start doing 130 on a regular basis, just look at how bad the #1 is just outside of town on the way home after the long weekend, people are pushing 150-160 in fast lane all the time.
What provinces need to start doing is making it unaffordable to speed, not that im preaching like I never speed, but I am also not one to whine and whine and whine all day about photoradar, more strict laws, police cracking down etc etc. You knowingly break the law you pay the price, I thought most parents taught their kids that at an early age but I guess not
Re: Do 40 km/h over speed limit in BC, car gets impounded.
i don't remember the last time i heard of a highway death from long weekend speeders. is there really any correlation between those caught speeding and resulting reduction in accidents? meaning if they gave out 400 speeding tickets, did they prevent 400 accidents due to speed that weekend? i drove to kamloops and back last weekend and i didn't have, or see any accidents, and i sped the whole time. it sure was great how when everyone else was doing the same speeds, that nothing went wrong.
"speeding kills family of 5" sells more papers than "guy on cell phone, or guy not keeping up with regular traffic flow kills family of 5". driver training will never improve here because speeding pays well for the gov. it's easier to prove speeding and to blanket all accidents with "speed related" terms. plus they will look foolish by admitting that there is a problem, that they created, with the licensing system.
you probably don't like me because someone else said they didn't lol. <3
