  • My Eventful Night

So around 10:00pm I was driving to Patryks house in the deep south. It was pouring outisde and I was doing my best to avoid any big puddles. When I hit Mcleod trail just past canyon meadows dr the car quickly bogged down and the engine light flashed once before I turned the ignition off. I coasted to the side and waited for Patryk, Tracy and Kim to help me push my car off of McLeod Trail. Once the car was off the road I called my dad and asked if we could borrow the trailer. By the time we returned to where my car was left it was around 2:00am. I pulled the bumper off so that the car would fit on the trailer and so that we could undo the intercooler pipe to use the tow hook. Just when the car got fully onto the trailer we hear a screech and a couple large bangs. We look behind us and a guy in a Honda Civic took the James McKevit exit too quick and ended up on the train tracks. We managed to push him off of one set of tracks but he was high centered on the other set. This is when the guy said "no cops bro no cops" and then literally ran away leaving his car on the train tracks. Calgary Transit and the police were called and the trains were stopped. Anyways here's pictures of the incident. I am going to pull the spark plugs in the morning and let my car dry out. I'm pretty sure I caught it early enough that it did not do any damage.

    Cliff notes:
My car almost hydrolocked, while rescuing my car we saw a honda crash onto the train tracks. Here are the pics.

Thanks to Patryk, Tracy, Kim and Errol for all the help.

    and the honda...

if u got the money and an easily accessable filter, it wouldn't hurt to buy one and throw it on when it starts to rain. not like u need the power in the puddles hehe

                  Re: My Eventful Night

well.. when i had a mk4 with a CAI.. whenever i went through puddles i always threw the car in neutral so the engine stopped and coasted through.. sometimes even i remember if the puddle looked super deep i would actually toss the car in neutral and shut the car off.. coast through then start it up again

hope its okay tyler otherwise i'd look for a new motor..

2.0T may be able to fit in there or a new 1.8T or a massive 2.7t

Thanks, I got an engine light on the way home but I'm pretty sure it's completely unrealted. I'll scan it later.

And yeah that exit is brutal, whatever kind of material is on the roadway where the tracks are is very slick.

OP, did you figure out what was the issue with the car in the first place? I have a small case of hydrolockanoya but figured you'd need to hit a deep puddle and not just a good soaking from rain/spray...
