  • Things to see in Montreal/Quebec city?

Hey guys, heading east here and was just wondering if anyone had seen or done anything in Montreal or near by that is an absolute must if you are there, I have heard I need to go get a real poutine what else? Don't really know anyone who has been and I don't think there are too many festivals happening right now cause I think that's more winter, but I don't know?

    Help me out!

If you're into Cathedrals and such, go to Old Montreal. Parking down in Old Montreal can be a bit of a pain in the ass, just be warned. If you like more sightseeing a lot of people go down to St.Cathrines Street. If you're into music there is the Hard Rock Cafe on Crescent Street(Near St.Cathrines St). Their food is good and lots of music memorabilia. Ummm! China town is there as well, if you're into Amine. If you like hockey there is the Bell Center. Oh yes! Don't forget the poutine, you're going to be surprised in how many combos you can get.

You can also Google things to see when you're there. I know that there is more but off the top of my head I can't remember what any of them are called.

Um! Watch the drivers, they are as bad as the drivers here. If you don't speak any french you'll be okay in Montreal. Majority of the people there speak English. Getting out of the airport can be a bit of a pain, bring a GPS. Getting back into the airport can be a ***** too.

Have a great trip Colin, it's a wonderful city.

            * I should note this is for Montreal

Take the metro and enjoy walking through a beautiful city with lots of history, parks, restaurants.

I just got back from there, so I would check out old montreal, notre dame, biodome, biosphere, maybe visit the race track? Lots of places to eat which is what we did a lot of there.

Take a bus tour which is about 2 or 3 hours. It will take you around the city with an english speaking guide who tells you about the history of each place you visit. Probably best bang for buck. You can get at any of the numerous stops at different touristy locations and get back on one of the next tour buses that comes by (they give you a schedule)

La Banquise has a wild list of poutines to eat, I enjoyed it but only got the classic, but they have many toppings, the place was busy. Schwartz Montreal smoked meat sandwich was also pretty tasty as well.

If you like crowds and like to shop, try going on St.Catherine street, and St. Laurent. The metro can take you to all these places, and buying a metro pass might come in handy if you like to go to different areas on foot. The underground city is also very interesting (shopping like TD).

Id say the bus tour was definitely worth it, and we found that in Old montreal by the science center, its about 40$ but it gives you a taste of the whole city and all the major sights.

Other than that, just stuff your face with all the delicious food, but try and share as the portions are large, and it can get expensive.

Yeah, I might have to make a trip out there. Some friends go to Uni out there. Sounds fairly out of hand. Some club is on the top floor of an office building like 40+ stories up. Sounds sick!

Although I am told there are lots of Frenchies out there. So that may be a slight issue. There is also some pretty kick ass pedal bike races happening there in a week. Full UCI sanctioned tours. The big Tour teams will be there, so if watching some of the best athletes in the world, make a pedal bike do some crazy things, interests you check that out.

Wanda's, club supersexe, a few other sketchy places where you go up a staircase and all the sign says is "gentleman's club".

and the casino is kind of cool in Montreal as well, it looks like the world series championship trophy. but, you cant drink while gambling = fail.

there's a place in the old forum that was called the burger and Benedict or something like that, and it had an AMAZING Montreal smoked meat eggs Benedict with maybe the best home-fries I've had in a while.

and as previously said, driving is ridiculous. scariest cab ride of my life.

i didn't get to see a lot there but i was only there for like 18 hours haha.

its a nice city and lots of fun to be had!
