    Re: Anyone fight a ticket?

you go into the traffic court, wait in the line up give the lady behind the glass your ticket, then take a seat. The justice of the peace will eventually call you into his office and tell say in my case " you a three demerit point ticket, for 113$ what can you tell me about this ticket?" i said " i was on my way to school to write my midterm for organization theory and i was late so i was going a little to fast" he then says "okay what i can do for you is reduce it to a two point ticket and 80$" i asked him "Can i pay the full fine and get 0 or 1 demerit?" he says " no im sorry there are no 1 point tickets in alberta so 2 is the least i can do, if you need time to pay it, talk to the cashiers. So then you go and wait again until the lady behind the glass calls your name, go to talk to her again. She asks do you need time to pay, i said no ill pay today. she says okay take a seat and the cashier will call you. cashier calls you, you pay and leave. total time about an hour

I've had better luck talking to the prosecutor, rather than the J.O.P, and because you show up on the court date set up for yourself and many others, you can learn how other people plead to the judge and or prosecutor. JMHO
