best way to send money home?

Hi Guys,

I want to send a small amount of money back home to my sister in england ans was jsut wondering if anyone had any suggestions on the best and cheapest way to do it? Done it in the past using wire transfer bank to bank but that costs a lot and with all the new money emails and whotnot that im not familiar with i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions???

Not sure whats best for international stuff. Paypal can do it. Not sure how the fees compare.

I think you can do gift on paypal which is fee free.

Oddly enough, I sent money to my sister in England a few months back too.
I tried online banking, but it had changed so much in the last two years that it would not let me.
So I went through Western Union and she got it right away. I paid about $45 (or $65...I can't remember) in fees I think. It depends how urgent you need to send money. For me the transaction fee was irrelevant as it was an emergency she got the money right away without hassle.

I've sent money to my sister in switzerland via paypal. Worked fine. If that failed i was gonna train some pigeons.

I think you can do gift on paypal which is fee free.

It looks like there is fees on international transfers regardless of reason for sending. Within Canada I think is free.

thanks guys think ill check out the pay pal thing, i think the wire transfer fee was around $40 but i was looking to get something cheaper as its no a huge amount and its no emergency but a bday pressie for some stuff she wanted.

Meh, my mom sends me cash every so often for my education, via online banking through TD.

Your bank should be able to do a direct money transfer via her account #
Or mail her a Thomas Cook cheque NOT A TRAVELLERS CHQ made out to her name.
Sent it by register mail.About 10 bucks plus exchange.
