Hey guys and gal's,
First off let me apologize for my ingnorance on this topic, I have been doing a lot of lately but I'm still very new to cameras and dont know much at all.
Im looking to get an entry level DSLR to have an upgrade from a point and shoot cam, I dont want to spend a small fortune as I can only see using it for random car shots and other misc stuff. From what I have been reading the Nkon D40 with the 18-55mm kit lense seems to fit the bill perfectly, and used prices seem to be about $400.
However I was browsing around and found this, the Nikon D3000 which is on sale this week.

From my very limited observation it seems as though it is essentially an upgraded version of the D40, would I be right on that?
I cant see why I would spend around the same for a used D40 when I can get a brand new D3000 for a similar price.
If you guys could give some opinions on either of them that would be great!
thanks in advance.
