Who's goin thru insurance for hail damage???

Needless to say, alot of people got hit REALLY bad by the hail. Anyone with older cars going through insurance to get it fixed? I've never dealt with insurance for something like this so i'm wondering if its worth putting a claim on my insurance to get the dents out of the 97 golf CL pulled. What do you guys think?

if you plan on keeping your car and care about it yes claim it.. its a comprehensive claim like hitting a deer.. your rates will not go up

Depending on how bad the damage is, odds are, a 97 Golf CL is a write off according to an insurance company.

Damn. Let me know what they tell you Matt. I dont care about my CL all that much, but was planning to sell in August. Would probably make it much easier to sell without the obviously visible dents everywhere!!! I'm assuming if it was a write off they would give me about $500 for it

Im hoping my Wifey's Yaris is a write off! means we get to go car shopping sooner! Lease expires in November..

I doubt that hail damage will be over 3k though... (Half vehicles value correct?)
Hood, roof, sides and hatch all have hail damage...

Hood, roof, sides and hatch all have hail damage...

Usually about 65%-75% of cars value, but varies from insurance company to insurance company.

They will replace the hood, roof will be lots of remove and install time to get at the inside of the panel, hatch might be a replace. You'll just have to wait and see, but generally when you get into paint and dent repair it gets close to $1000 a panel, unless you go the paintless dent repair route.

Hmm, how about on an 08 Mazdaspeed 3...I'm guessing a couple hundred dents...

When I was dealing with the claim on my 91 Jetta they wanted to drop the value of my car because of hail damage. What the guy told me they do if you have an older car is give you 50% of the cars value, cash. So what insurance was saying was that I had already been paid out 50% of my cars value before the guy hit me... but I got the car second hand so it was the pervious owner who may or may not have gotten the claim money.

So if you have an older car make the claim because you never know when it will come back to bit you in the ass.
