  • garage mods: retractable cord reel

I've been looking on and off for a retractable cord reel (extension cord) for a while now to use in the garage.

Just found a good deal @ Costco
Snap On 30ft reel, comes with a flourescent light to plug on as an accessory.
    $44

Good deal since cord reels usually run in around $70 minimum

    found a picture:

search for "snap" on the page, second result is the pic, price is different in store
    put.......put.......

For snap on and florescent that is a pretty good deal. I think I paid less for my princess auto one on sale but the light is not detachable, although it does have a plug on the light.

Make sure its into the roof securely, I had the little cross pin wiggle it's way out and fall off onto the roof of my car....nice couple of dents.

Costco has had these since last Oct I think. I got one in Jan and finally put it up a week or two ago. In terms of the roof installation I made sure I went into a beam with the hook. I am pretty sure the hook was for the ceiling and the bracket was for the wall. Gravity and the weight of the reel on the wall is what holds that pin in.

I just drilled a hole through the end of mine and put a cotter pin in. If you garage is also not done you can do what I did and build a little enclosure about it so you can put an air hose and reel without it hanging below the ceiling.
