  • Car shoping

Hi, so I may get car shoping in the next few months but my head is now stuck in a VR6 loop. I am not looking for max speed and for me half the fun of driving my GTi are the sounds. So that basically leaves A3 and R32 as the options.

The question is has anyone here driven both an A3 AND a R32? I am leaning toward A3 because a) I like the look and b) my perception that it is a bit more refined. Did the A3 3.2 ever come with a manual transmission?

I'm pretty sure the 3.2 was a DSG only thing in the A3

I think so too. My gut says R32 but just depends if you want a bit more room or not, or to be different then the rest of club silver s4 and R32s, errr I mean Eurodrivers.

        A3 for sure!

R32 is so overrated. 32 times.

A3's are sexy. Imagine all the women that will want to ride in the A3 with you.

I went and talked to one of our salesmen and he assured me that yes it did. 2009 was the last year you could order it with a manual and a 3.2Q. For 2010 they dropped the manual option. They are beyond unicorn rare though we have only seen 2 here, and we actually just delivered a red one this week.

Threeway. Perfect. Any threeway should be worth the purchase price of the A3.

Plus it comes in TDI which is a nice green choice. If that doesn't get you hard, Emma Watson will.

Since the answer to the Manual transmission question has been answered, are they already available with the TDI engine? I'm rather interested in this too as it appears our next car will most likely be the 3.2 A3. Depending when you choose to buy, we might be going to test drive a 3.2 A3 in the coming up months so we'll report back to how they both feel.

Since I want a A3...I have looked into this as well.
Seems you can only get a 2.0 TDI Diesel in a front wheel drive 6 speed.
Quattro only comes in S Tronic

So the real answer is that they never did come with a manual in Canada, DSG only. MK2 TT is the only 3.2Q (VR6) that ever came with a manual and the manual option was dropped this year.

Lesson learned never listen to a salesman...

                    Sorry for the misinformation.

A3 TDI is green car of the year this year.

I'm not sure why the TDI doesn't come in AWD. I think I would've definitely saved to make the jump from the Jetta TDI to the A3 TDI if it did have the advantage of AWD.

I like the A3, I hear they were plagued with quality problems for a while though.
