  • My math prof

Thought I'd share this story here

Last math lecture, the prof finished up and tells us it's his last lecture as a university prof, he's going into the private sector because he's tired of getting paid so little. Everyone applauds him (last lecture). Then a minute or two later he says "I gota tell you guys something , yesterday I ordered a V10 Audi R8 "
I'm like whaaaaaaat, how are you tired of getting paid so little?! He continued talking to some kids after and i heard him saying he already has an RS4 but wants more

    what a pimp

    Re: My math prof

might not be how much money he has or has not, its priorities....... A buddy of mine in Saskatchewan owns a $300+ K db7 and he bought a 1100sq/ft house for under $100K......His car payments and insurance is 5 x what his mortgage is. He has no furniture, no groceries, etc.......but he has a db7! He makes about $60k a year.

Now the prof on the other hand probably makes a lot more then 60k but still

      Re: My math prof

You gotta really love cars to do that. Then again it's a DB7

      Reminds me of 2 things:

      and the quote
"You can live in your car, but you can't race in your house"

What bank approved a guy for a DB7 making 60k?

Average Prof. salary is something in the 130K range Canada wide, this only applies to tenured profs though.

        Good for him though.

Some professors make sh*t salaries but make money doing private sector consulting on the side, or have patents or inventions.

If he ALREADY has a booming side business then of course he is going to quit his day job for the bigger paycheck.

Depending on the subject area this is in the range of a professor.

They actually try to compete with industry so hot industries pay more.

Either way 60K is not a ton of money considering that you have to put in between 9 and 12 years of post secondary schooling sometimes.

Yea garbage men make about that and most have no where near 9-12 years post secondary schooling(believe it or not).

Also $61k/year seems high for a first year grade school teacher?

profs dont make a hell of a lot from teaching.
some pad their income by consulting to industry and writing reports, but those who just teach are maybe clearing $100k.
Considering how much they invest in their education to get to that level, its not a great return.
