Parents live in a condo, and no one is fessing up to it right now. Really sucks.

I was in my condo, just having a brew and playing some video games. I hear this big crunch. It's about 2 in the morning, I look out my second story window - this uhaul truck just backed into the gutter on the roof. (low roof, he was backing up to the garage for unloading).

I went down, got the plate, and went on with my week etc. It turns out the three douche's never reported it and just drove off 30 mins later. I did, and they had to pay for the damage, because fvck if I'm letting the condo fee's go up.

Put a message near the mailboxes perhaps?

In situations like this, where I just have a bad feeling, or it's not the best parking situation, I take a quick pic with the phone. (plates and parking position) Takes 2 seconds and makes me feel better?

I do this all the time too! So far it's like a karma force-field for my car. I have yet to get a ding since I started doing this (knocks on forehead).

have you filed a police report?

you might not get a response going door to door, but if you have an idea of a few units sending the police to those doors might prove a little better.

I am about in the same boat myself. My wife took my car out to Cochrane a week ago and parked beside a handicap spot. To say the least I have a huge dent in the side of my car due to someones carelessness. I thought it might have been at work on the monday but the security cameras at work didn't catch anything. I didn't notice it till monday night so now I am screwed due someone that can't even own up to their actions.

That's annoying.

Good luck with getting them to own up though as it's just your word against theirs. Sure they were parked in front of you but who's to say they put the dent in your car. Someone else could have parked in the same spot after they were parked there or your car could have had the dent before you parked there. You have no witnesses.

In the same way there is little point in taking pictures of cars either side of you when you park. Who's to say that during the time you were parked another car arrived later and parked next to you causing the damage not one of those you took the pictures of.

Looking on the bright side...New hood and repainted fender coming my way...for a smaller amount of cash than I would have paid otherwise.

It was a completely white moving van, no company name anywhere. And yes I did go and get a police report done up and they said that they will be following up at the condo.

I'm just not gonna hold my breath.

I completely disagree. Vehicle height and color will help you out here. If paint transfer, lets say, is completely different from the car you took a picture of, you can rule it out. Like I said, it takes two seconds - and what if it did work that one time?

I was excited by the first photo to say PDR (paintless dent repair) would fix it, then the second photo clearly shows he tore through your hood!

Well almost any panel truck would do that kind of damage but a moving company that usually has two people or a driver and a swamper, shouldn't the second guy get out and guide the driver out of a tight situation, this wasn't a reputable moving company was it.
