I got most of my yard cleaned today! That made me a happy cat. I cleaned the leaves out of my pond and started on that today. I just filled it full of water and cleaned off the amythest. Man I can sit beside it all day and feel like a million bucks. I love water!
I still gotta put some bottom rocks in there. And i'll wait till may before i put the gold fish in .. And i'll start putting plants in soon i think. Think it's too early for the water plants?
new liner
amythest and some decorations.
i love amythestststs a lot. i mined these all myself in ontario
I built this little fountain. it's a pot planter. i epoxied a plastic pipe to a pump. put screen around the bottom to prevent the fish from getting sucked in. and it fills up, spouts a little water against the light (looks nice at night), and then drips down the sides back into the pond. I put a plant in it in the summer, and that acts as a filter for bacteria and algea control.
Almost done...
A bunch of birds were gathering around my yard. All excited for a bath when i left. They would come close, this robin was only a few feet away. Most flew away when i grabbed the camera.
Other then having to fish out the odd leaf, the combination of plants and the home-made organic algea filter (really just soil and plant in the fountain), it's self contained all summer!
if the water level goes down, my automatic sprinkler system takes care of that every night.
