    Re: Ever notice...

Maybe because they did! 1000hp cars were a dime a dozen in years gone by!

I am still waiting to hear this 'morals' story

        Re: Ever notice...

LOL Blair, if i'm drunk enough the next time i see you... I might release the details

1,000 hp! I don't even believe most of the Youtube 1,000 hp dyno's that I see. Anyone can throw HP numbers around... Sure, some of these are fast cars; but they are not 1,000 hp lol!

So this guy is saying his N/A 427 in a ac cobra kit car is making 1,000 hp because he "blueprinted" the engine.

          Re: Ever notice...

lol yea the 1000hp mark seems a wee bit of an exaggeration, although my gf's dad was building what he figured to be 700hp cars in his back yard with a few friends back in the day when he used to drag race for fun. Big power numbers are easy to get out of those big V-8s but without the right slicks/suspension and gearing it doesn't mean anything when you hit the track.

BTW I know of two 70s chevys in calgary (owned by the same guy) street driven with over 1200hp, the first car hit over 1200hp on the dyno but the second car wasn't dynoed though as the first car broke the dyno, but he estimates the second car would have put down better numbers.

And the guy built these at home in his garage..... (mind you it is a pretty well equipped garage!!!)

I also have a friend who built a nova that put down over 600hp on a $10,000 budget so these high numbers aren't completely unreasonable

So he drew a picture of how the engine went together with dimensions?

lol yah and apparently that's why he had all the power. and this guy just wouldn't stop. i didn't challenge him to argue, i just kept asking more questions.

but then he started catching on that i musta knew something. she he said i was mocking him. i tried to deny that. it just made him into a grumpy man.

it all started because i told him my favourite car was the DMC delorean :P

Naaa I just think everyone should break out their protractors and draw pictures of their engines to get more power out of them
