Iggy was great in the Olympics.. but is that an excuse for playing like -poop- for the last two or three months of the season when he is being paid 7mill a year to be here? He is the franchise player, he is making the most on the team, yet when it actually mattered the most he was no where to be found.
Also keep in mind, he was playing great when playing along side one of the best players in the game today.. Crosby would make McGratten look like an allstar. Not a valid arguement!!

This isnt an Olympic conversation.. its about NHL.. Totally irrelevant how Iggy played in the Olympics. Different rules, different teammates, different situation. Maybe if Crosby was a permanent linemate of Iggy your arguement would hold its own weight.
All Im getting that its ok for him to play well in the Olympics, then stink when he plays for the team that actually pays his salary? I can't understand how anyone is ok with this....
I think the point being made is that Iggy has minimal talent around him to play off of. Gretzky had Kurri, Crosby has Malkin, Sedin has Sedin. Who does Iggy have? I wouldn't blame Iggy for the current woes of the Flames. The rest of the team is way below average.
if its not iggy's fault he has no talent around him, then its sutter's fault for not getting that talent.
one more reason he should go.
i feel bad for any manager coming into this organization. they would be inheriting a bunch of newly resigned people with boat anchors for contracts and meat hooks for hands

I do think its the GM/Coach/Team defensive plan that hurts us more then anything...
Hagman has produced consistently until being a Flame
Bouw. Ditto
Jokinen Ditto
Kotalik Ditto (Torts partially to blame)
Higgins Ditto (Torts partially to blame)
The only guy to break that trend was Cammaleri... letting him go was the start of the slide IMO...
you guys were eliminated back in october, so aside from getting tanner or fish lips i dont know what you're cheering about hahaha
At least the Oliers get a shot at Taylor Hall or Tyler Seguin. Either player can become solid players down the road or can be used as trade bate in the off season....Flames get nothing for finishing 9th hahaha
I like the deadline trades. So glad we got rid of Phaneuf. He was brutal, went way out of his way to make dumb hits. Toskala, played decently, considering he hadn't started in so long. We needed a decent backup, toskala has starer experience.
I will also make the same point I always make, you can't win the cup every year, you have to win some, lose some big deal. I want Jersey in the finals. Get brodeur his final cup ring, a deserving goalie. Also keep in mind the big pre-cap teams have stayed the same, they are always in the play-offs because people will go there and take a pay cut to play on that big team. The Flames were not a big team pre-cap and doesn't have that prestige.
But I also want the Coyotes to do well, then get moved to the 'peg.

I love this argument from Oilers Fan's.... way to be proud of being dead last!

No one said we are proud. I was simply stating the fact that last is better than 9th. If you're going to miss the playoffs, you might aswell get something for it. What's so hard to understand?
Iginla is the heart and soul of the Calgary Flames, period.
this guy has devoted his entire career to the Flames (even going to camp without a contract once) and his numbers this year are not as "horrible" as everyone thinks. He still produced with 32 goals and 37 points. Not a bad year by anyone's standards... You need a quarterback to help get the puck through the neutral zone.. You need to get those passes on the tape... where the f*** was Bowmeester & Jokinen this year - After all that hype and not signing Cammalleri!
Iggy also did not hold out to get the 7 mil, deal, he was offered it so whoever is pissed about that should blame the management if they don't think he produced enough.
Anyone who thinks Iginla should be traded deserves to see him in an Oilers or a Canucks jersey next year! Hey it can happen ever hear of three way trades????
