one of the cars i bought from a dealer i wasn't going to drive till i sold my other car and they lent me a demo plate to drive it home. but i don't think it was really "legal" for them to do that cuz i think they are suposto have the buyer insured and registered before it leaves the lot. but i am not sure on this.
Yes... it is a Front Wheel Drive... your point?

Nope...You gotta have everything done before you drive the car...sorry. Plate, insurance & pink slip...well, they all go together kinda. Get insurance, with the paper from the insurance company you go to a registry and get the rest. Then with all three you can drive your car

you can buy a new car and drive it with your old plate for 14 days. As long as you have a bill of sale in the name of the plate holder, you have 14 days to transfer the registration of the plate to the new car. Of course you do have to have insurance on the new car from day one........

In your case the only way for you to use your buddies plate is for him to "own" the car and get temp insurance for it.......that way he doesn't have to register his plate to the new car as the transportation from a to b will be in the 14 day grace period, but the cost of insurance for the one day is probably more then just getting it towed........

note: your bill of sale IS your temp registration slip during those 14 days......

And the ticket for no insurance is 2500 dollars, so don't do it.

^^^ and the car gets impounded for 30-60 days, and you pay $10 a day + towing charges......

you could also use one of those "In Transit" tags, but really how hard is it to get temp insurance?
                -Pick up phone
                -Provide email address
                -Print temp insurance slip
                -Drive car safely and legaly
