How many of you guys run trapster either on your iPhone, Blackberrys etc.? I think its an awesome program, especially with the ability to warn you so long and far in advance of live police if someone has been running it, as well as redlight cameras, and speed cameras. The more people we get, the better it works, so I guess in a way I'm advertising it!

i have it.. shows soem stuff not sure how accurate it is.. but showed popo on #2 on day for me..

I've tried it a few times, always down to try free things! My biggest pet peeve was having to turn the ****** on before i start driving *yes i could be called lazy but my radar detector fires up before im even in the car* and the battery life. If you forget to shut it off.... kiss your battery good bye, that sucker will die within a few hours from the GPS and constant loading of data while sitting in your pocket. Seems some of the roads have a bunch of misc stops programmed in by people, some places I have never seen a cop at in my life but maybe I am just missing them every day. Every time I have used it I have never seen a "in progres" traffic stop or multinova or anything posted.

Its a free program (www.trapster.com), which shares live police locations, mobile speed cameras, red light cameras, and speed cameras, as well as thing like accidents, and construction zones.
If you have an iphone it uses the exact same format as the google maps, and will follow with a cursor as you drive. However when you get near one of these points it will alert you. You can also set it up so you receive a text of any live police in your area. Sorry for the bad explanation, check it out!

I've got it too.. It works pretty good. It works by users reporting traps set up by police so some of it is real time also dependant on how well the users report traps.

I agree, i admit that some often shouldn't be submitted, but I have others that have been bang on! I mostly run it, when I go into an area i dont travel as much, or when going near downtown.

- Trapster is a software application that you download to your phone
- It uses GPS function (location) to figure out where you are, if there is a speed trap recorded at that location by someone at somepoint in time, it will warn you. As in above posts, the speed trap doesn't have to there, it's just that there was on there at some point.

- there are other devices that will do the same thing, some radar detector will do it too. Navigation systems can be programmed for redlight cameras, so probably common fishing grounds too.

- the system can be abused by people who randomly put in speed trap locations too.

Ok, I'm gonna give it a go. Gonna test it tonight after work. I'm sure I can find a trap during the 30km drive home.

Give it a try! Make sure to adjust your settings to your need! And turn patrol on if your using an iPhone, as it will display a blue line if someone has recently traveled that area.
