Re: Blair's Song Of The Day Thread

Here are a couple good ones by Empire of the Sun. I can't embed the actual music video for 'Walking on a Dream' but it's work checking out right on YouTube because it's so weird and awesome.

Well on to today's selection, I am going with a Drum & Bass track this morning from Chase & Status who are setting the D&B world on fire as of late, and the vocals provided by Plan B who is a very talented person. The song is featured in the movie Harry Brown, in which Plan B also stars opposite Michael Caine, I really want to see this movie but only getting limited release here at the end of April but DVD is releasing in the UK in just a couple weeks.

Anyways on with the song Chase & Status Feat. Plan B - End Credits
Blair - if you want the Harry Brown movie lemme know and I can burn it for you.

This thread is sweet, exposes people to different kinds of music. That being said, any other metal lovers on the boards? I will refrain from posting things in Blair's thread (as i'm not sure how many people would actually appreciate the music), but if there was other people maybe we could start a similar thread to just share bands, as we all know it is hard to keep track of all the bands that pop up.

Re: Blair's Song Of The Day Thread

Been waiting to find a You Tube version of this mix to put up, so finally got one.

I posted a big segment on Fenech Soler a little ways back and put up their latest single Stop And Stare. Well the duo of Jaymo & Andy George from Radio 1 have done a soild remix of it which I have been enjoying since they debuted it on their show a couple weeks back.

Fenech Soler - Stop And Stare (Jaymo & Andy George Remix)

Jaymo & Andy George are probably my current favorites on Radio 1, they are not on all that often but sometimes they fill in for Annie Mac and always have a solid show IMO. They do some good remixing too (as evident from above) and I will put up another of their's that I most enjoy.

Miike Snow - Black & Blue (Jaymo & Andy George Remix)

Re: Blair's Song Of The Day Thread

Well I posted up Coheed And Cambria on Monday in my rock selection and they have been a favorite of mine for a number of years now and their newest album was just released yesterday, The Year Of The Black Rainbow. For those of you who do not know them their albums are based upon science fiction stories and have made a trilogy up to this point, with this new release now being a prequel. The deluxe version also includes a full novel co-written by the lead singer Claudio Sanchez.

Anyway here is the first video from the album, I thought the background would help setup the video so enjoy!

I've never heard of that willhelm scream band, I like that song! I'm not sure how many people will like this, its not that hardcore give it a listen! Definitely one of my two most listened to bands lately.

Despite what most people think, screaming like him is a lot more than just yelling into a mic, it is now being considered a vocal technique. Uses a lot of the same breathing as singing. As well, the guitar and drums absolutely make the music for me, I have a special place in my heart for double bass and crazy guitar.

Re: Blair's Song Of The Day Thread

Well I missed posting yesterday so I will do two today. As for your post Dan that song is not not bad, personally I am a fan of metal music but sometimes the screaming vocals get to me, but I agree double kick drums rock the world! You should give the A Wilhelm Scram disc Mute Print a listen a great fusion of metal and punk!

While we are on this rock kick I need to bring up the band Helmet. For me they were a huge influence when I played in a band and their sound was Epic for the early 90s IMO. They have come and gone a few times since then and even are supposed to have a new album out later this year, but not all the members remain.

Here is a video from their album Betty which was released in 1994.

                    Helmet - Wilma's Rainbow

Now one amazing portion of Helmet was the talent of John Stanier on drums, his skills are amazing, some of the stutter beats he used to use were nuts. He left Helmet in the late 90s and went on to play with groups such as Tomahawk and Battles. Battles is an experimental rock group that has a super unique sound but really is driven by Stanier's drumming, and hence the next videos

                    Battles - Atlas

                    Battles - Tras

Now how about a little French house to enjoy on a sunny afternoon.

Cassius is a French production group that has been a big part of the French music scene since the 90s. They have made some great tracks over the years and even produced some great albums such as Phoenix's Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix. They have been making a bit of a resurgence lately with a new album coming and the re-release of some of their classic tracks.

My first pick is a remix of a song from 2002 and has to be one of my favorite house tracks of all time.

Cassius - The Sound Of Violence (Narcotic Thrust Remix)

The second selection is a brand new remix of their track Cassius 1999 originally from 1999.

Cassius - Cassius 99 (Reset! Remix)

And just because when looking for stuff I found another track that I love by them so another one from way back in 1999.

Cassius - My Feeling For You

You might like these bands if you like double kick, crazy guitars and brutal breakdowns. The drummers in both bands are amazing technical drummers. The screaming may be too hardcore for some peoples liking.

A nice summer song for the good weather. Jamaica is a duo from France (Formerly Poney Poney) that has just released an EP. This is a remix of their first single by an act from the Ed Banger Records family.
