Re: Blair's Song Of The Day Thread

Well I am going to go back to Major Lazer for today's song, as I mentioned in my first song posting this group is the duo Switch & Diplo creating some unique sounds. This track is not remixed, just the original song but one of my favs on the album and maybe one of the most mainstream sounding as well. The video is something else though, very trippy and weird, sort of an extra drugged version of Aphex Twin's Window Licker??

        Thanks!!

Well picked this track for today as it feels like a big summer song to me, and with a dusting of snow, and the first day of spring approaching I can envision driving in the car with this song cranked! Classixx is a group from LA that does a fair bit of remixing but has also put out a few tracks too!

Classixx - I'll Get You (Treasure Fingers Remix)

Also here is the unmixed version with a nice summer video to enjoy too!!

Re: Blair's Song Of The Day Thread

Today I am going to give you another multi-song post featuring someone who I think is a very talented vocalist. Daryl Palumbo is a singer from New York who has managed to front a couple bands, display the variety of his talent and range all while living with Crohn's Disease. Glassjaw is a fantastic post hardcore band that put out 2 great albums in the early 2000s, and have apparently been working on a third for numerous years and I hope this is the one that sees it released.

            Glassjaw - Ape Dos Mil

Head Automatica was a group that Palumbo formed later to explore his 'pop' side as he felt the Glassjaw avenue would not allow for that kind of sound. The first album Decadence (Produced by Dan The Automater) is a great disc, the second I have not been as found of, and the latest word is that they have recently completed a third disc too.

Head Automatica - Please Please Please

More recently Palumbo has been collaborating with F. Sean Martin, of Hatebreed, in a more Hip-hop electronic vibe and they have let a couple songs from that come out, and supposedly are working on a full album.

House Of Blow - Ice Bait

Going for the house vibe today! Grum is an up and coming act out of the UK and this is their newest track which just came out and I am really liking the disco/french house vibe. The video is also fairly entertaining and strange too.

Grum - Can't Shake This Feeling

There previous and most popular song previously was Heartbeats which had a very 8-bit video game sound and electro vibe.

Re: Blair's Song Of The Day Thread

That's a nice mix, Grum is pretty hot at the moment!

For today's song I am putting up the hottest track in the dubstep world at the moment. Rusko is setting the tone in the dubstep scene and has a a debut album coming out and this is a track from it that he puts a bit of Garage into as well. He is also currently touring with Major Lazer and hitting up all the hot spots in the US like WMC in Miami and Coachella festival.

                  Enjoy!

                  Rusko - Hold On

Re: Blair's Song Of The Day Thread

I agree could use some more time, maybe an extended version.

For today I am selecting a group that has been around for a little bit but is still building in popularity. Friendly Fires were nominated for the Mercury Prize in 2009 for their debut album and classified as English Dance Punk. They have re-released their disc with a new track as they have gained in popularity and I really enjoy their sound and the massive percussion they use, gives a tropical/African vibe to their songs.

First up one of my favorite tracks of their self titled debut:

                      Friendly Fires - Paris

                      And their most recent single:

Friendly Fires - Kiss Of Life

                      Blair

Re: Blair's Song Of The Day Thread

My selection is a bit of a relation to yesterdays, as this group supported Friendly Fires on their Australian tour. Miami Horror is another electro pop group from Melbourne that does a fair bit of DJing/mixing but is also producing their own stuff, and this is the first single of their upcoming debut album. I quite enjoy this track and the video seems to be a bit awkward but keeps you watching to find out where it all leads.....

                        Miami Horror - Sometimes

I will add in a remix they have done that I also really like!

Faker - This Heart Attack (Miami Horror Remix)

Re: Blair's Song Of The Day Thread

Well I missed posting a track yesterday but I am going to do a big post today with a few tracks, so hopefully that makes up for it, if anyone cares.

I first heard Calvin Harris back in the summer of 2007, I was in England for a wedding and I kept hearing this track "The Girls" and when I returned I had to keep listening to it. His first album I Created Disco had some great tracks and exposed me to Calvin Harris the musician/singer/songwriter. However as with a lot of artists these days he is also a producer and DJ and has done some great tracks and even produced albums for people like Kylie Minogue.

His second album "Ready For The Weekend" came out last year and I think it is killer, has some amazing tracks and has produced great remixes too. He also does not take himself to seriously and puts out entertaining videos and has an interesting live show and even crashed a live performance of the X-Factor with a pineapple on his head!

I am going to put forth a few of my favorites of his tracks and mixes now!

                          Calvin Harris - The Girls

                          Calvin Harris - Flashback

Calvin Harris - Ready For The Weekend (High Contrast Remix)

Calvin Harris - I'm Not Alone (deadmau5 Remix)

Katy Perry - Waking Up In Vegas (Calvin Harris Remix)

The Hours - See The Light (Calvin Harris Remix)

Re: Blair's Song Of The Day Thread

Today's song is the newest track from a group called Pendulum, off their forth coming album Immersion. They are primarily a drum & bass act but they are a full band that plays live so their sound does change from straight D&B and has been evolving over the last few years. I quite enjoy the build one this one and has some great energy too!

                            Pendulum - Watercolour

I am also going to give you a remix (ripped from Pete Tong's show) of this song by deadmau5 as you do not get too many D&B songs being mixed into house/trance styles, usually goes more the other way.

                            Pendulum - Watercolour (deadmau5 Remix)
